Chapter 195 Lucas Has Sherry’s Back
Julia looked confused, like she had no clue what was going on. “So when I said all that earlier, I was just testing Sherry. Guess the offer we gave her really ain’t as good as someone else’s.”
Then she suddenly covered her mouth, like a thought just hit her. “I only heard this from someone-I can’t even say if it’s true. An hourly wage of two million? That sounds straight-up crazy.”
“There’s no smoke without fire! Even if it’s not that nuts, the way she shot our offer down right away? It means someone’s giving her a better deal. Why else would she not come back?”
Doesn’t she care if I and Julia get too close?
Most girls would be all over their man right now.
Ain’t getting my love better than all that cash? 1
Ain’t I got money too?
Is it really that hard for her to admit she was wrong?
If I don’t put her in her place now, she’s gonna end up walking all over my whole family later, isn’t she?
She talked so much trash earlier, like I didn’t even matter to her. That shit ain’t gonna fly. I have to teach Sherry a lesson.
“Heard you’re moving to King City soon to promote a movie? When you’re there, you’ll probably run into Sherry. Can you do me a solid? Teach her a lesson and make her remember her place!”
He was swamped with work every single day, and now he had to handle collaborations with people from King City. He could only hope Julia would take care of this for him.
With Julia’s skills, she could take down any girl easily.
Only problem was that Sherry thought she was better than everyone. No skills, but she didn’t trust anybody, looked down on everybody, and refused to listen to anyone.
And he was right about that.
“Don’t worry. She cooked for you for five years, after all. For that alone, I’ll help her out. Won’t let her go down the wrong path!”

See that?
Sherry only ever saw the worst in people.
Even if Lore wasn’t perfect, she worked hard for the family-mingling with all those rich ladies.
Same with Cathy.
She’d always been scared of those girls’ circles-they gave her nightmares before. But now, she hung out with them anyway to make a name for herself.
She was paving the way for the Bode family. Even if they weren’t great at it, both of them were trying.
What about Sherry?
Like Julia said, all she did was cook a few meals, and she still complained. Back then, it was his family who looked down on her and treated her like crap.
Now even he was starting to look down on her.
And now he had to beg Julia for a favor. Gilbert felt even worse for her.
“Thanks for this, Julia. Is there anything you want? You never ask for favors, and I’m so busy I can’t keep up. You must hate being here, away from home.” The more he talked, the sorrier he felt.
No wonder she never gained weight-even after all these years, even when she was abroad.
And she never asked him for anything.
Unlike Sherry, who held grudges over every little thing. Julia never asked for anything and never complained once.
He totally forgot about all the resources he dumped into Julia to make her famous in the entertainment industry.
Even if he did remember, he’d tell himself Julia was doing a real job—and making her famous would help him too.
But Gilbert never thought he was being unfair.
He thought his calls made sense. Investing in Sherry was a waste-he got nothing back from her.

Deep down, Sherry felt a little bad.
No matter what, she ended up with a guy like him-someone who talked so mean, who told her not to embarrass him in public every damn day.
Every day he hung out with either Wendy or Julia, yapping loud right in front of her, looking for trouble-and then blaming it all on her.
They had big mouths, but they’d never own up to it.
Lucas said, “Anyone with eyes can see Julia’s trying to get close to me. I don’t care what her angle is, but she’s definitely after me.
