Chapter 241 Unexpected Gatherings

When people started having hopes, they wanted more and more.

Lucas looked at Sherry-her cheeks puffed out, like an angry little pufferfish.

A smile suddenly tugged at Lucas’s lips. He looked so handsome, like everything else faded into the background.

He pinched her cheek. “Are you jealous?”

Sherry’s cheeks suddenly flared bright red. She realized her tone just now had been a little… off, and with a stubborn huff, she turned her head away, refusing to face why she’d blurted out a question like that.

“Whatever. Do what you want. Even if you pick Julia, it’s none of my business. After all, her husband died and both of you are single.”

She turned to leave.

Lucas stroked his jaw. “Her husband died?” A mocking smile played on his lips.

Sherry froze. She walked fast, but her ears were sharp. She didn’t know why she cared so much about Lucas’s words. She shook her head quickly.

His words felt like they had a double meaning. But before she could think more, Lucas pulled her out to get food.

Home cooking was good-healthy, and everyone said it tasted best. She’d always claimed to love it and hate eating out.

But restaurant food came in all kinds.

Even if it was unhealthy and had no nutrition, it tasted great. It woke up all her taste buds.

And it gave her ideas-new dishes she could try making later.

She’d always had limited thoughts and ingredients. She’d never eaten anything fancy, so…

She’d never known she was talented at creating new dishes. She’d thought she was just good at fighting-nothing else, a loser like everyone said.

Until that one dish she made blew up. Then she realized-she was good at more things than she thought.

From now on, she’d never let anyone insult her or call her useless again.

They ate a lot outside. Sherry gained a little weight, and her strength grew-though she wasn’t back to her best yet.

But all the good food made her skin glow. With makeup on, she looked fresh and lively. Her complexion and skin had never been better.

Now, every time she walked into the company, people teased her. “Hey, our beauty’s here!”

“Seeing a pretty girl like you first thing at work really lifts my mood.”

“You make the whole group look better!”

Sherry was used to their teasing.

“Hey, wanna go to the club tonight? We can call Yelena too.”

Everyone liked Yelena because of her personality. Sherry was glad they got along so well.

But she hadn’t heard from Yelena in a while. Just as she was about to think more, she got a reply.

Yelena texted, “I’ve been hanging with a big shot lately. Gonna milk him for all he’s worth.”

Sherry replied, “I’ve made a lot of money lately. I sent you one million. If those big shots ever touch you inappropriately, quit. Come to Harrison Group-I can get you a job here.”

It took Yelena a while to reply, “Don’t worry! This big shot’s a total hottie. I’m not losing out, haha!”

She sent a photo-they were posing together. He was incredibly handsome. Both of them smiled brightly, looking happy.

Sherry smiled. She’d be happy if Yelena found her true love. She wondered why Yelena never talked about her family since she came back.

Yelena seemed outgoing, able to get along with anyone. But deep down, she was reserved and had a strong pride. If she didn’t want to talk about something, she’d get mad if someone pushed her.

She hated troubling others and always thought she could handle things on her own.

And honestly, she usually could.
