“Oh please, don’t pretend you didn’t know! I’m moving into your place-actually, it’s my place now!”

Sherry smirked, her eyes full of mockery.

They weren’t even divorced yet.

But Gilbert couldn’t wait to let her move in.

She really held a dear place in his heart.

“Does your face feel itchy again? You didn’t enjoy that curry mask last time. I see a trash can right here. Want me to make you a new mask from it?”

Wendy flinched hard and stumbled backward. Then she remembered the bodyguards behind her and straightened up, though the whispers around them still left her embarrassed.

Seeing Sherry buying such an expensive bed without hesitation made Wendy burn with jealousy. “Stop! You can’t use that card!”

Like a madwoman, Wendy rushed forward, snatched Sherry’s credit card, and snapped it in two.

“You’re already out, so why are you still spending my husband’s money?” Wendy shouted, full of confidence. “From now on, that’s my money. You have no right to use it!”

The people watching looked at Sherry with disgust, their eyes sharp with judgment.

“She looks so proper, put-together even, but she’s a homewrecker? Why would someone stoop to that?”

“I’m the homewrecker?” Sherry almost laughed from pure anger. “Gilbert and I aren’t even divorced, and you’ve already moved in. So who’s the homewrecker here? Have you no shame? You can talk all you want, but I still have our marriage certificate with me.”

She’d kept it tucked in her bag, ready to file for divorce the second Gilbert finally agreed.

She didn’t want to sue first. The first hearing rarely granted a divorce, and the whole drawn-out process would drain her emotionally and physically.

That one sentence broke Wendy’s confidence. She was terrified Sherry might actually show the certificate and ruin her new “Mrs. Bode” image right there.

The sudden silence said everything: Wendy was the other woman.

People pointed fingers. The whispers grew sharper.

Wendy was so angry she wanted to tear Sherry apart. Then her eyes landed on someone familiar. “George…”

Her voice turned sweet and sticky like candy.

Chapter 29 The Broken Card

George walked over and patted her head. “Wendy, what’s wrong?”

“She bullied me! She called me a homewrecker!”

“Our Wendy has got the entire Latham family backing her up. Who dares call her that? Why would she ever be one?” George stared coldly at Sherry. “We don’t welcome customers with bad character. Get out.”

“Wait.” Wendy walked over, looking very pleased with herself. “Sherry, I told you you could never win against me. This slap-consider it payback for me and Gilbert.”

Her face twisted, and her hand swung hard toward Sherry’s face.

Sherry caught Wendy’s wrist instantly. She hadn’t known this was Latham family property-if she had, she wouldn’t have come.

Even so, she refused to be the one who lost.

She’d been losing her whole life.

She flipped her hand and slapped Wendy five times before anyone could react. By the time people realized what happened, Sherry was already running away.

Wendy touched her stinging cheek, her face twisted with anger, all pretense of sweetness gone. “You bitch. you dare hit me?! What are you all standing around for? Catch that woman and beat her up!”

But Sherry ran too fast.

Wendy trembled with rage.

Being slapped in front of so many people-where could she put her pride now?

Then she spotted a familiar figure, and her eyes lit up. “Gilbert, stop Sherry! She hit me five times. Look how swollen my face is! I just want her to apologize.”

Gilbert saw her cheek-indeed, swollen and red.

Sherry instinctively cried out, “Wendy wants revenge! Please, make way!”

Wendy cared deeply about her image-after being humiliated like this, she’d never let it go.

But Gilbert still stepped in front of Sherry, blocking her way. “Sherry, why did you hit her for no reason? There are people everywhere. You might not care about the Bode family’s reputation, but I do-”

Thud!

A bodyguard behind them pulled out a baton and struck Sherry hard on the head.

Warm liquid trickled down her scalp. She touched it. It was blood.
