She'd be jealous too, right?
After all, Julia once said he was the most important person in her life, and no one could ever replace him.
It wasn't like he was cheating.
Everyone had someone irreplaceable in their heart. That was normal. He just wanted to know he existed in Julia's heart, too.
Being the most important—that's all he wanted.
Gilbert's hopeful eyes searched the darkness, anticipation building.
But in the dark, his confused gaze couldn't find Julia anywhere.
She'd been right in front of him. Where did she go?
Then he heard it—Julia's scream, cutting through the air like a knife.
The woman he'd been thinking about? She completely ignored Kurt, who was still trying to hold onto her. She launched herself at Lucas' broad back, pressing her soft curves against him.
"Whoa, packing weapons-grade ammunition!" Juan rubbed her eyes, making sure she wasn't seeing things.
Gotta give her credit. She had the goods.
Sherry's face went hard. Her expression hit rock bottom.
She never expected Julia's seduction to be this blatant. No pride, no shame—she'd thought the woman was supposed to be classy.
But she had to admit—this tactic worked on men.
Only the man himself knew whether he'd seen through it or not.
Everyone knew the Grangers were sharp operators.
Even Kurt couldn't resist Julia—especially not when she was turning on all her charm.
But Lucas? It was like he had eyes in the back of his head.
He sidestepped left, pulling Tony with him.
Tony was completely confused.
For one wild second, he wondered if his iron-clad straight boss was about to have a moment—
Then something slammed into his back, and arms wrapped around his waist. Something soft pressed against him, rubbing vigorously.
Tony realized what it was immediately—something he didn't have.
This bitch was mocking him.
"You bitch!"
Tony spun and slapped her.
He never imagined he'd once been slapped by a woman.
That woman had tried to seduce him, and he'd shut her down with words. He never thought of his mouth as cruel.
Back then, Sherry hadn't felt it either, so she had no idea how ruthless his tongue could be.
So at the time, in everyone's eyes, Sherry was the good girl who slapped that woman to make it right for Gilbert.
She'd been so protective.
She said she'd never let anyone hurt even a single hair on his head. The face was a man's dignity, she'd said. No one should hit a man there.
And now she was hitting him.
"What's with the look? Like I've never hit you before."
Sherry walked off, Juan gazing at her with pure admiration.
Kurt looked at the two reddened faces and decided this was harder than dealing with his own girlfriend.
At dinner, Tony was still sulking. He slammed his fork down.
"That bitch did it on purpose. I called her out, and this is her revenge? Humiliating me like that? I'm taking a six-month vacation—I'm getting plastic surgery!"
Later, heading back to the hotel, they could still hear Tony's muffled shouts, complaining to Lucas.
