Her Revenge Was His Regret (Shirley and Gilbert) novel Chapter 355

The second Gilbert saw Julia's reddened, scalded fingers, he completely snapped. His face twisted with rage as he stormed toward Sherry.

"You..."

He never got to finish his threat.

Sherry stood her ground. "You're the one who's crazy! Did you not watch that eight-hour video I sent? I learned flipping tables from your mom. Cathy did the exact same thing to me—she dumped the noodles I cooked all over me. I got burned, and I still had to make them all over again.

"Oh right, I forgot—you could see exactly what your mom and sister are really like. You probably couldn't even stand to watch it! If you don't believe me, I'll send you the highlight reel later. We'll see who had no shame first!"

Sherry turned and grabbed Yelena to leave.

Gilbert reached out and stopped her. "Apologize."

"Do you not understand human language? Maybe you should get your head checked!"

If he doubted her, Sherry would pull up the footage and show him every detail.

"Julia wasn't even there."

Huh?

"Julia had nothing to do with this. She didn't do anything to you. Why would you let her get hurt like this? She's an actress—every inch of her skin is delicate. Do you want to ruin her?

"After everything, you still think you're right? Nothing to say now?"

Sherry wanted to act reasonable?

Fine—they'd see who was really being unreasonable.

Sherry stared at Gilbert for a long moment, then spoke quietly, "So you've known this whole time."

She'd thought Gilbert wouldn't have watched. He was too proud to believe his own family could act that way.

She'd assumed he hadn't seen the video, which was why he could keep acting so self-righteous.

If he'd truly believed they'd done nothing and never seen the proof, he would never have admitted it like this.

He would have defended them to the end, insisting they weren't that kind of people.

The fact that he'd backed down so easily meant he had watched it.

A cold chill ran down Sherry's spine.

He knew everything, and still he took Cathy's side. He knew exactly how she'd been burned.

Had he known all along—before it went public—choosing to ignore her pain, her humiliation, just to keep up appearances?

"Her little pain is nothing! Think about how many women suffer to marry into families like ours. Ask Miss Harrison—she'll tell you!"

Heather had been splashed a little too, but she'd wiped it off quickly so no one would think she'd been humiliated.

"She's right."

Heather had always hated Sherry. The idea of any young woman living so close to Lucas was already unbearable to her.

If Sherry had knelt at her feet like a dog and obeyed her, she might have let her stay in the Harrison estate as a pet.

But Sherry had gotten too bold. She would show no mercy.

"Let me be clear—Sherry has a zero percent chance of ever marrying into the Harrison family. Even if she had a dozen kids, she'd still never belong here.

"So you did nothing wrong, Mr. Bode. If anything, you're the one who got the short end of the stick."

See?

Everyone was on his side.

That meant he was in the right.

He had watched the video. And yeah—they had gone too far.
