Every step she took was difficult. The shadows before her eyes began to overlap until she felt her body lighten, falling into an embrace.

In this place filled with various high-end fragrances, not a single cheap perfume could be found, but she smelled a faint scent of soapberry.

This scent was particularly abrupt, yet incredibly refreshing, like seeing sunlight in the darkness.

“Why does he look so familiar?”

“Isn’t he the bastard son of the Davis family? What’s he doing here?”

“Are two abandoned stray dogs licking each other’s wounds?”

They weren’t wrong to think that. Tyrone and Sherry were probably the two most pitiful people today.

Sherry finally focused and saw Tyrone. “Did you send me here so I’d get mocked along with you?”

They had been whispering about Tyrone quite a bit since they came in, even though Tyrone and Gilbert were good friends.

But today’s scene was too dramatic, so he couldn’t escape being gossiped about. “But that’s fine. You should be able to estimate the price of this villa. It’ll make it easier for me to sue and get it back.”

Since the local lawyers wouldn’t take her case, she’d find one from out of town.

Sherry planned to go across state lines to find a lawyer. Since she’d already humiliated, at least she had to get her money back!

Tyrone said, “After today, that money won’t be easy to get back. As long as Gilbert says he’s investing in Wendy’s business, then it’s a legitimate business. But partnerships have wins and losses. You can’t imagine how much room for manipulation there is.”

Sherry pulled away from his embrace, her face even more pale than before. “So, even claiming it as marital property, I can’t get it back?”

“If they weren’t in a partnership and you only wanted to get back Splendor Villa, a good lawyer could easily get it done. But now it’s too difficult.”

Now they started to do business cleanly. What Gilbert gave Wendy can be considered an investment. Then Sherry had no way out. Unless Gilbert himself admitted it.

No wonder she hadn’t heard from Gilbert lately.

When she wanted to be discharged, she thought Gilbert would stop her.

Unexpectedly, he took her to Melissa’s place.

Sherry thought Gilbert had come to his senses and didn’t want to make things difficult for her anymore,

understanding her reluctance to live in that villa.

Who would have thought he was doing this for his own convenience?

If she had known beforehand, she definitely would have stopped him.

What a clever scheme. He’s treating her like a fool. No wonder he was so eager to kick her out.

If she disrupted the party, Gilbert wouldn’t be able to give his beloved Wendy any money.

And she, as his wife, hadn’t received a single penny from him for a year.

She just wanted to get what was hers back. Why was he treating her like this?

“Since you knew all along, why didn’t you tell me before? If you didn’t want me to know, why did you invite me here? Since nothing can be resolved, wouldn’t it be better to let me not know and be a fool?”

Now she understood the ostrich’s mentality.

What was the point of telling her if it couldn’t change the outcome? What good would it do besides making her sad and angry?

What should she do? How could she protect her rights?

Now, she wasn’t afraid of not getting the money. With Gilbert’s legal team, she could easily be burdened with huge debts and then kicked out.

She completely distrusted Gilbert. Of course, she didn’t trust Tyrone either. He was Gilbert’s friend after all.

How could he possibly wholeheartedly help her now? If he really wanted to help her, he would have done so already. Now it was too late.

In the tense atmosphere, her phone suddenly rang.

The ringtone seemed to mock her.

Was Gilbert calling her at this moment to hear how miserable she was?

Well, she was miserable.
