“Oh, okay.” Yvette never thought Brandon would refuse to help Judith up or carry her inside.

Judith was equally stunned.

Brandon simply walked to the trunk and grabbed an umbrella plus a bottle of water.

“Wait here. Someone will come get you soon.”

The sight made Yvette feel sick to her stomach, so she turned around and walked back into the house.

The household staff came out to help Brandon carry all the gifts inside.

Yvette was utterly confused and glanced blankly at Brandon.

Brandon had studied obstetrics and gynecology. He understood the hidden meaning immediately.

He nodded faintly with a shy, restrained smile. “Understood.”

“Make the most of your youth. Don’t waste time,” Bertha added.

Still confused, Yvette leaned closer to Brandon and whispered, “What does Grandma mean by all that?”

Her soft face drew near to him.

Brandon’s gaze darkened slightly. He stared at her fair cheek, breathing in the sweet, faint scent of her hair.

His voice was low and hushed. “She’s telling us to have a baby soon.”

The golden sunset glow spilled over the elegantly decorated long table, making tiny sparkles glint on the crystal glasses.

Yvette sat beside Brandon. She had changed into a pale purple dress that day, making her skin look flawless.

“Nonsense. You should have a drink at this family dinner.” Ralph was already slightly drunk, his cheeks flushed. “Yvette has always been such a good girl. I feel at ease leaving her to you.”

“Don’t pressure him, Dad.” Judith chimed in with a bright smile, trying to ease the tension for Brandon.

She sat diagonally across from him. Suddenly, she leaned forward and reached for the wine glass in front of him. “I’ll drink it for you, Brandon.”

Judith wore a champagne–colored spaghetti strap dress with a low neckline, revealing smooth skin with every small movement.

Diamond glitter decorated her fingernails, shimmering under the lights. Before her fingers could touch the glass, Brandon quickly pulled it away and leaned back slightly.

“No need, thank you.” Brandon’s gaze stayed fixed on Ralph. “Ralph, this one’s for you.”

He tilted his head back and finished the drink in one gulp.

Judith’s attempt failed. She tried to catch Brandon’s eyes, but he never glanced her way even
