Brandon went quiet, his gaze locked on Iris.

“Zoe turned you down not because of her family or her brother. It’s because all you ever felt for her was simple admiration and a silly crush.”

Brandon huffed softly. “You’re right. It was nothing more than that. I never loved her deeply, and I feel nothing for her now.”

“What about Yvette?”

Silence fell over Brandon again.

Iris groaned in frustration. “Can you just be honest with yourself? Do you love her or not?”

“Does it even matter?” Brandon frowned, growing irritable. “We’re married. I’ll treat her right, and I’d never cheat on her.”

Iris stepped forward, her tone dead serious. “Love means everything to girls.”

Brandon took a deep breath. He planted his hands on his hips and stared out the window, his chest heaving. He pressed his lips tight and stayed quiet for a long moment.

Once he pulled himself together, he dropped his hands and faced Iris. “So you’re telling me I should let her go so she can be happy?”

“Why would you even think that?” Iris looked utterly confused.

“Her heart belongs to someone else. What else am I supposed to think? What am I supposed to do?” Brandon’s eyes burned red.

Iris stared at him in shock. “She likes someone else?”

Brandon dragged himself over to the lounge chair in the study and sat down. He leaned back with his eyes shut, his face dark and gloomy.

A heavy, somber aura clung to him.

Only in front of Iris did he dare show such a low–spirited state, looking drained of all energy.
