Chapter 249 Aftermath
Elian cupped her face, ending the kiss but keeping his eyes locked on hers before gently wiping the smudged lipstick from her lips.
His touch was unexpectedly tender and intimate.
Liana didn’t move. He was composed, in no rush to hurry through the moment despite the audience.
She appeared calm too, but inside, she was a storm of worry.
At least four people in this room knew about last night: Lucian, herself, Lawrence, who’d walked her in, and Elian.
She didn’t know what the others were thinking. As Elian dabbed at her lips, she instinctively reached up and did the same for him, wiping the trace of color from his mouth.
Elian froze, his deep eyes holding hers for several intense seconds.
“The last part,” she murmured, reminding him of the ceremony.
“Right,” he agreed.
After this oddly intimate exchange, they signed the certificate.
The officiant smiled, “Though we’ve already witnessed i tradition demands: you may now kiss the bride.”
Laughter filled the hall.
Elian leaned in and kissed her again.
On the contract lying on the table, their names sat close together, as if promising a lifetime to be spent this beautifully.
This time, his lips were less demanding, his arms a gente embrace. The kiss was soft, lingering.
Finally, all the single guests gathered. Liana turned her ack and threw her bouquet with force.
The ceremony was a success.
Guests were soon whisked to the hotel for the luncheon reception.
Liana rested in a private suite for a bit. Truth was, she was waiting for a very important update.
When the door opened from the outside, she snapped her head up.
He finally returned. She stood at once, lifting her heavy dress as she hurried toward him.
“How is he?”
“The surgery was successful,” Elian said, coming to stand before her.
Relief washed over her, and inexplicably, her eyes stung
She never would’ve guessed there was a decent person left in the Forrest family.
