His Last Command Came Back to Kill Him novel Chapter 142

Seeing Whitley freeze in place, her face cycling between pale and flushed with anger, Yelena's smile deepened. She dragged out her words deliberately. "I'm planning to transfer my grandmother's remains to Sector B."

Whitley's expression turned lethal.

Sector B was the exact area where her grandfather was buried.

Given their complicated family history, this was no innocent real estate decision. It was a public slap in the face. A knife twisted directly into Whitley's heart.

Clive's indulgence of this woman had reached a sickening, bottomless low.

Whitley's grip tightened around the plastic water bottle she had just bought, the plastic crinkling under her shaking fingertips.

She raised her eyes, shooting a glacial glare at Clive.

"If you dare let her transfer the remains here, I don't care what it takes—I will make sure everyone knows exactly how Yelena Nash threw away her responsibilities and stepped on innocent people to claw her way up."

"When her reputation is in ashes and everyone is pointing fingers, when this precious woman you're protecting becomes an absolute pariah... do you really think the Sherwood family will just look the other way?"

Yelena's face immediately fell. She furrowed her brows, instantly slipping into her victim persona. "How can you be so vicious? It's just a burial plot. Do you really have to be this ruthless?"

Whitley let out a cold laugh, her eyes like chips of ice. "Drop the innocent act. I'm done playing games with you."

"My biggest regret is backing down time and time again over the years, making you both think I was an easy target."

All she had wanted was to peacefully honor her grandfather's memory, cleanly cut ties with the Sherwoods, and focus on her medical treatments and her career. But these two just couldn't stop stomping all over her boundaries.

Watching her determined retreat, Yelena clung to Clive's arm, acting totally helpless. "Clive, is she mad at me again? I really didn't mean anything by it... It must be so exhausting for you. I feel so bad."

Clive didn't respond. He just stared deeply at the spot where Whitley had disappeared, then finally started walking toward the cars.

When Whitley rejoined her family, she still looked awful.

Zinnia Kensington spotted it immediately. She grabbed Whitley's arm, lowering her voice. "What happened? Did you run into those two pieces of trash?"

Whitley took a deep breath and shook her head. "It's nothing. Just ran into people I'd rather not see."

"Whitley, sweetie," Goldie said softly, handing over an elegant little box. "This is the jade bangle Bonnie had custom-made for you. She said it's to soothe your nerves and bring you good health. She's been so worried about how much weight you've lost lately."
