Communicate? Had he ever, even for a second, genuinely wanted to talk about the divorce?
If it weren't for her family's sake, she wouldn't be standing here taking this abuse.
Finally, without uttering a single word, she grabbed the conservative dress, spun around, and marched into the fitting room.

The walls of the fitting rooms weren't exactly soundproof. From the adjacent stall, Yelena's voice carried over perfectly clear.
"Wow, Mrs. Sherwood, that bracelet is absolutely stunning!" the sales associate gushed. "And I just noticed that Mr. Sherwood is wearing the exact same one. They're matching couple's bracelets, aren't they? That is just too perfect!"
Whitley froze, her fingers gripping the fabric of the dress like a vice.
Clive always wore a simple, minimalist bracelet on his wrist. It was so understated you wouldn't notice it unless you were looking for it.
She had brought it up multiple times in the past, asking if they could get a pair of matching bracelets, even something incredibly simple.
But every single time, he had coolly rejected the idea. He either claimed he hated that kind of jewelry, or that it was completely unnecessary.
It turned out he didn't hate them. And they weren't unnecessary.

The bracelet on Yelena's wrist caught the boutique's lighting, gleaming conspicuously.
Seeing Whitley, Yelena immediately stepped forward, flashing a sickeningly sweet smile. "Oh, don't misunderstand. Clive and I got these bracelets from a little kid abroad. They're definitely not couple's bracelets."
"If they were, you guys wouldn't have gotten married in the first place."
He must have heard Yelena's flimsy, backhanded explanation loud and clear.
But he just gave Whitley a cold, passing glance. His eyes lingered on her for barely two seconds before he looked away.
He had absolutely no intention of explaining himself. He couldn't even be bothered to offer a superficial lie to smooth things over.
His silence was a damning confession.
It was the exact same scenario as a hundred times before. He never cared about her dignity as his wife. His indifference was absolute, and it was lethal.
Whitley pressed her lips into a thin line, her fingers curling tightly.
Thankfully, she was way past caring about his explanations.
Her heart was dead. It couldn't hurt her anymore.
She didn't say a word. She simply sidestepped him, desperate to escape the suffocating air of the boutique.
But Clive didn't move an inch, deliberately blocking her way—
