His Little Wolf novel Chapter 64

Bethany

“Wakey, wakey, birthday girl!” The bed starts shifting beneath me and before I’ve even opened my eyes I know the little monkeys are using it as a bouncy castle again! I open my eyes only to get pilled by them, their voices all high and excited. Brooke links me to go out to the living room and these three make good work of helping me out of bed.

“HAPPY BIRTHDAY!” Gets yelled at me the minute I reach the living room and I’m met by the beaming smiles of Cal, Brooke, Ashley, Jack, Katie and little Cami. I instantly notice Liam isn’t here, I know he’s still at Alpha John’s but it doesn’t stop me from feeling disappointed.

I’d be lying if I said I hadn’t hoped he would come back for my birthday despite my mixed feelings I still need to know if he’s my mate or not, maybe that’s why he’s not here maybe my theory that he’s my mate but doesn’t want to be is true after all. Nonetheless, I plaster on a big smile and greet everyone with thanks.

Before I know it, I am surrounded by cards and gifts and I’ve been completely spoiled! Brooke tells me that a birthday breakfast has been organised and both Liam and Calvin’s parents will be joining us which I’m excited about I love those guys and maybe he will turn up there?

I make quick work of showering and get dressed in one of my favourite red floral dresses, it’s a little chilly outside so I put on some black tights, my black boots and a denim jacket and head for the kitchen, both parents are there and even more cards and gifts which

I’m grateful for but still there’s no Liam. The breakfast was beautiful, Leah made all my favourite foods and I eat way too much but I don’t care.

“Ok birthday girl, you, me, Brooke and Katie are off to get our fine behinds pampered, hair, nails and some retail shopping no arguments!” Ashley is bouncing in his chair from excitement, he loves shopping more than anyone I have ever met.

“But there’s stuff to get ready for the ball, won’t we need to stay and help?” I don’t want to add any pressure to anyone, not today.

“Nope it’s all under control, me and Jack will be fine with the kids and if we are needed for anything variety, Elsa and summer are on standby to look after them, now go and enjoy…just one thing be on alert as your wolf will surface at some point today!” f**k how could I forget about that? One of the most important things that will ever happen to me and I forget! f**k, well done Bethany!

The mall wasn’t too busy and Brooke made our nail and hair appointments in advance so there was no waiting around, we have the ball tonight so I’ve gone with French tip nails and my hair has been curled and pinned up at one side, it’s classy enough for the ball but not too much. I’ve already bought a new dress and shoes so that’s one less thing to worry about although we do get some retail shopping in before heading back to the packhouse for lunch.

The packhouse is bouncing with excited wolves, every unmated wolf is hoping to find their mate tonight and even the mated wolves are excited about the ball, it’s always nice to dress up and relax for a few hours. I know I should be excited about potentially finding my mate tonight but the stubborn side of me won’t let me because, despite my confusion over my feelings for Liam I still need to see him so I can find out, I need to know even if it does lead to heartbreak for me, heartbreak is better than living this unknown.

We step into the kitchen and quickly get greeted by the storm that is the children, Bella makes a be-line for me and jumps up in my arms, she is such a cute child, she has brown shoulder-length hair that naturally curls on the ends just like Harleys did and her big brown eyes always remind me of Josh, she looks like Josh so much that somedays its painful, she’s got his height too, she’s going to be a tall girl when she older.

“Ok Beth after lunch there’s a surprise for you, a member of the pack has set up a treasure hunt for your birthday and it starts from the moment you leave this kitchen!” Cal quickly tells me before we start eating our lunch.

“Who has done that?” I love this kind of thing so I’m already getting excited.

“You will find out once you complete the hunt!” He’s beaming and this only increases my excitement. I quickly finish my lunch eager to start and quickly say my goodbyes as I head for the kitchen door, I’m about to head outside when Calvin calls out to me, turning around I find Bella standing there holding a bunch of roses.

“I got fowers for ew beth!” She sings out in her bloody cute voice that always melts my heart, she passes them to me and after a quick hug I take them from her and she heads off with Calvin back to the kitchen. I look at the beautiful roses in my hands and see a card sticking out.

“Back, where it all began, is where you’ll find the next little one!”

I guess this means the front of the packhouse maybe? I rush outside and find a small box resting on the wall with a warrior close by, I guess he was watching over the box. opening the box I find a bracelet, it’s gold with eighteen diamonds and beautiful and I’m blown away that someone has bought me roses and a bracelet. I take out the bracelet and there’s a note tucked inside the box.

“The place you love to go to put other wolves on the floor!”

but there’s still no one here.

The smell gets even stronger and the butterflies in my stomach are working up a storm, I suddenly feel surrounded by heat then I feel hands quickly cover my eyes, I should feel scared but for some reason I don’t, I should scream out but I don’t, it’s only hands on my eyes but they make me feel safe! and then I feel it…

..tingles spread across my face from those hands, the smell so strong now and then it hits me, my mate! Whoever is standing behind me is my mate, holy f**k! holy f**k! HOLY f**k! I take slow steady breaths, gather all my courage and slowly turn around, I’m pressed up against a chest and the moment I look up I’m met by the warmest brown eyes, I know those eyes…

I gasp from the intense feelings that are swirling around my body and take a step back so I can see the face, as I step back I close my eyes giving myself a moment to breathe before I look at my mates face before I find out if those eyes belong to who I think they do.

I open my eyes and I’m met by the beaming smile of my mate, I feel tears of happiness lace my face and then I hear them, I hear the words I’ve wanted to hear since the moment I meet him.

“MATE, MINE!” He growls out and I quickly find the words pouring out of my mouth, I’m frozen to the spot, I can’t believe it, I can’t believe after all of this that Liam is my mate! I try to move but I can’t and even though I have tears gracing my cheeks I am beaming.

I can’t take my eyes off him, my heart is pounding, he’s beaming back at me and it instantly eases all my worries about him not wanting me, seeing the way he is looking at me now, I don’t have any doubts.

Neither of us has said anything yet but he takes a step towards me closing the gap between us and his heat instantly surrounds me, making me feel safe, warm and protected. He brings his hands up to my face and wipes away my stray tears with his thumbs, the sparks against my skin feel incredible, a shiver runs through my whole body just from that simple touch as we both stare into each other eyes and my cheeks are hurting for my constant smiling but I don’t care.

My tears have dried up but he continues to gently stroke my cheeks, I swear my heart is going to burst through my rib cage it’s pounding so hard. He leans in closer towards my face, his breath fanning my face as he gets closer and closer…

“Hello, my little mate!”
