Adrian POV
I didn’t go back to the hospital after my last conversation with Amber. I just couldn’t keep pretending. I couldn’t keep sitting there and talking to her while my very soul felt like it was being crushed.
I feel bad for being harsh with her, though. I don’t hate her, but I no longer love her either. I hate the things she did that led to all of this. It’s been two days since I last saw her, and I decided that today, I would apologize to her for my harsh words. I will tell her that I do not love her, but I don’t hate her either. I just don’t have the energy to care anymore.
The rejection will need to be clean and swift. I am contemplating calling her aunt. She was the only person in her family who was nice to Amber. I can at least make the arrangements for her aunt to come get her and take her away to heal after the rejection.
‘You’re kinder than most, just doing that for her,’ Thor said.
‘It’s the only kindness I can give, Thor. Her cruelty far outshines mine.’
‘Agreed.’
I get up, shower, get dressed, and then go to eat breakfast. Once all that is done, I go to the training grounds to help Aric and Niall train the warriors this pack has left. With fewer warriors, training goes a lot quicker.
“You okay, Adrian?” Aric asked.
I clench my jaw. “I’m going to see her today and ask who should be here to pick her up after we reject each other.”
“Are you sure that is what you want to do, Adrian?”
“Yeah. I went through her things and found the birth control pills. Everything that fucker said was true. She confessed it too.”
Aric’s eyes hold sympathy for me. “I’m really sorry, man.”
“You know, part of me was hoping it was a lie. But the curse could only be lifted by the person who had cast it. He had to confess everything. When I found the pills, I knew what he said was true.”
“Are you delaying talking to her because of her health or because of your grief?”
“A little of both. I’m not cruel enough to reject her after that terrible injury. I’m waiting until she is discharged. I also cannot be in the same room with her right now. Not when my chest feels like it is open and raw,” I confessed.
He clapped my shoulder. “I don’t know what you’re going through feels like, Adrian. I haven’t found my mate yet. I do hope, however, that you can bounce back after this and maybe find a second chance, mate.”
“I don’t want a second chance mate. I would rather be alone at this point.”
“That’s your pain talking, man. Give it time. Heal, and if you get another mate, it will be better the second time around,” Aric said.
For someone who hasn’t found his mate, he sure has a lot of opinions on the matter. It’s not rainbows and hearts. It’s real work, and it’s tough. I don’t know how my siblings or parents make it look so easy. It’s anything but easy.
“I’m heading to the hospital now. Do you need me for anything before I go?”
He goes back to attending to Amber, and two of the nurses push me out of the room and tell me to wait outside. I have no one here I can call. I’m not connected to this pack. My pack is Blue Moon. Isaiah, Aiden, Mom, Dad…none of them are here. Isaiah should be here later today at least.
I’m pacing back and forth and waiting for the doctor to come out. While I’m waiting, I pulled out my phone and sent a text to Isaiah.
[Adrian: Something happened to Amber. I’m waiting for the doctor.]
[Isaiah: What do you mean something happened?]
[Adrian: I don’t know. Our bond snapped. Thor said Tike is gone. When I got to the hospital, doctors and nurses were treating her in the room. I don’t know what is going on.]
[Isaiah: I’m an hour out, and then we are coming to the hospital from the airstrip. Call Aiden.]
As soon as I’m done reading the message from Isaiah, Amber’s door opens. The doctor comes out and looks at me. He sighs as he approaches me.
“How is Amber?” I asked.
The doctor’s eyebrows furrowed together. It wasn’t confusion. It was more like sadness.
“I’m sorry, Alpha Adrian. She’s gone.”

So many missing chapters and repetitions. A different story altogether from chapter 101...
