Chapter 163
Austin POV
I didn’t imagine that the boys would come today. I am excited and terrified. I can’t wait to see them and now I’m worrying if I will be a good enough father for them. I know Rebel and my mother will talk me down from the ledge later, but for now, I’m focused on my mate.
I have to say, after Cullen, the entire pregnancy has been pretty hilarious. Rebel’s emotions, mixed with her already sassy personality, has me in stitches most days. Nothing could have prepared me for the comedy show of her being in actual labor though.
I know she is in pain and it’s not fun, but damn it, her snarky attitude is making it hard for me not to laugh. She has been in labor for hours and she has sweat coming down the sides of her head. She is currently laying on her side, and I’m rubbing her back through another contraction.
“I’m really rethinking the epidural Austin!” She yells out as she breathes through the contraction.
“Remember, you didn’t want the epidural, darling. You told me to keep encouraging you to breathe through it.” I say, dutifully telling her what she said to do if she starts calling for epidural.
“Take your encouragement and shov- argh!!!!” She yells out again as another contraction hits.
I go around to wipe her forehead of the sweat forming when the contraction passes and as I’m doing so, she grabs my collar, “Listen here Alpha, get the damn doctor and tell them to give me the epidural or some help me Goddess, I will tear you to shreds when this is all over.”
Like I said, comedy show. “Darling, you told me not to budge -” and she snarled at me cutting me off. Actually, snarled at me. Luckily, before she could make good on any threats, I am certain she would have carried out; Dr. Hadley arrives.
“Luna, I need to check you. These contractions are on top of each other now.”
“No shit doctor. I want the epidural, please.”
“Let me check you first.”
We wait for another contraction to pass, and then Dr. Hadley checks Rebel. “Luna, you are fully crowned and dilated. There is no time for epidural you are in the delivery stage now. Your sons are coming now.”
My eyes go wide, and I look down at Rebel, and there is fear in her eyes. “Darling, it’s okay, I’m right here. You are the most incredible and strong woman I know. You can handle this better than any other woman on the planet.”
Dr. Hadley is calling in the nurses, and they are prepping the room for the delivery. I’m standing behind my mate. Cronos and I are pushing encouragement and strength through our bond to help her get through the toughest part of this pregnancy.
“Luna, on the next contraction, push down. We are going to count to ten. At the end, release and take a breath. We are going to repeat this with each contraction, okay?”
Rebel is nodding her head nervously when a contraction hits. “PUSH LUNA!”

I’m holding Rebel’s hand, and I swear I’m hearing bones snap. I grit past it; it’s nothing compared to seeing my mate go through this pain. I can’t take the pain for her, but I will take it with her.
We are doing this exercise for 25 minutes and the doctor calls out, “I can see the head. Black head of hair. Let’s do this again, Luna. When that contraction hits, push with everything you can!”
I’m stupefied looking at my mate and our first son coming out. I’ve never been more shocked in my life at the display. I mean I know how pups are born, but it is something else entirely to see it happen in real time.
“ARGGGHHH!!!” Rebel screams and she is pushing down as hard as she can.
“Your first son is here”, she says holding him up for Rebel and me both to see him. Then I hear a wailing cry coming from his tiny body. My son. My heir. My first pup with my mate and love of my life. My eyes are glistening when I hear the doctor tell my mate to start pushing again.
“PUSH LUNA!” She says to Rebel.
But this time, it only takes a couple of minutes to deliver our second son. I think Aiden will look like Rebel, but Reid, his hair is like mine. He is probably going to look a lot like me. I look down at Rebel who has her head back and breathing hard. I bend down and kissed her. “You were incredible, darling. I love you so much.” I say, and I know my voice is raw with emotion.
“I love you too.” She says. She is exhausted. It’s been hours of contractions and pain, but as always, my mate is a complete badass and brought our two pups into this world. “We are parents now.” She says.
“Yes, and I wouldn’t want this with anyone else but you, darling.”
The nurses bring our sons to us. I’m holding Aiden and Rebel is holding Reid. I look at the four of us. Earlier today there were just two of us. Now we are a family of four and Goddess help me, I don’t know if I’ve ever been happier in my life.
