Dr. Hadley smiles at me and very excitedly responds, “Of course I do! You are always welcome to use the labs here.”
Uh-huh, what was that ‘past is in the past’ nonsense? She is looking very present for this moment. I said my thank you and we arranged for a place for him to work and sleep. After all that was said and done, I sat back and looked at Dr. Hadley, “Spill doc! You definitely have a thing for Dr. Higslee.”
She sat back and sighed, “Luna, it’s in the past. I will say nothing more on the matter.” With that, she got up and started walking away.
“You know I’m only going to pester you further, right?” I said.
“I do, but that doesn’t make a difference. Some things are better left unspoken.” She said and she opened the door, “Shall we?”
I huffed and walked out with her. I want to understand the mystery. If she doesn’t say anything, maybe Dr. Higslee will.
For now, though, I am going back to the pack house to spend some time with the boys. I miss them. Afterwards, I’m spending time with my man. I miss him, too. I make my way to the nursery and I see Mary, reading another book while the boys are playing with each other. They are only a couple of months old, but their personalities are becoming more and more distinct. I definitely feel like as Aiden and Reid continue growing, they are becoming more and more defined. Aiden really is the serious one, which is funny to say, considering he is still a pup. Reid is still the loud one, and it’s absolutely adorable. But the two of them reach for each other in the crib and on the floor when they are playing. It’s like they have their own pup language. I want to make time for them to play with Navy and Jonah too. The four of them are going to grow up together and go to school together. Gosh, school together. I definitely want them to go to school. I don’t want them to be like me.
“How are you doing, Mary?”
“I’m good Luna. Though, I have news for you.” She says with her eyes lit up.
“I would love to hear your news.” I say smiling.
She blushes and then with a huge smile, “Michael and I are pregnant. We are going to have a pup!”
I squeal quietly not to scare the boys, but I rush to give her a hug. “Oh, I am so happy for you both! How exciting! How far along are you?”
“Thank you! We are excited. I’m about four weeks. In two weeks, Dr. Hadley said we will know the gender.”
“You must let me know when you find out and we will go shopping for the pup!” I say.
Then I feel my mate enter the room, “pup?”
“Mary’s pregnant!” I say, excited to have more pups being born into the pack.
“Congratulations to you and Michael, Mary. I am very happy for you both.” He says kindly, “If you don’t mind, I need to speak to my mate. I’m going to steal her now.”
I know the look in his eyes. He is ready to spend time alone with me. We kiss the boys, who have now fallen
