Chapter 250
“A hitman?” I asked, “What’s your codename? ‘Black Widow’?”
She laughed, “That’s a terrible codename and no. It’s not Black Widow.”
She grabbed the first aid kit and started going through everything. “Um, excuse me. Didn’t I say I would take care of you, Ms. Hitman?” I smirked and took the first aid kit from her and had her sit on the bed.
I start applying ointment and then Reid asks, “Most hitmen have a specialty, right? What’s yours?”
“Knives.” She said seriously while I continued applying the ointment.
“If you know how to fight, then why not fight back?” Reid asks.
“I sacrifice a lot to keep my sister safe, Reid.” She said.
I stop what I’m doing. “I can keep you safe, Thalia. I can keep you, your sister, even your mom, safe. If you’ll let me.”
She smiles gently at me, and I see unshed tears forming again. “I can keep them safe too, Aiden. I won’t burden you with my problems. They are mine to handle.”
“You don’t have to handle them by yourself anymore, Thalia. Will you let me help you?” I asked.
She puts her hands on my cheeks and presses her forehead to mine. I close my eyes and inhale her scent. Aiden, I will handle my family. Trust me when I say you want no part of that drama.”

I’m trying to respect her wishes, but my instinct is to step in and protect her. I want to push further, but Reid mind links me.
‘Stand down. Give her the space she needs, bro.’
I sighed. “Fine. But promise me you will come to me if you need help. I promise you I will be there.”
“If I need help, I will come to you.” She said, and it released a little tension in my chest I didn’t know I was holding.
When I come back out, I move to the couch and grab some of the pillows. I start getting comfortable, which is impossible to do with my height.
“Aren’t you sleeping on the bed with me?”
I stop and look towards the bed. Thalia is sitting up, looking at me, amused. I’m sure I look awkward as hell. I’m a big guy and this couch isn’t exactly built for my height.
“I notice you stiffen every time I come near you. I didn’t want to make you uncomfortable.” I said truthfully. I also want to let her know that I’m observing her and I’m trying to consider her feelings.
She pats her hand on the bed beside her. “You’re too tall for that couch and this bed is huge. You should sleep
here. Come on.”
I hesitated for a second. I don’t want to scare her. But she is looking at me with those beautiful eyes and I cave. I climbed in bed beside her. I don’t touch her, but I lay down and watch over her as she sleeps. Once I hear her breathing even out, I close my eyes. It may not be a perfect first night together, but this is still the happiest I’ve
ever been.
