Chapter 254

“All work and no play makes for a very boring life, Aiden. Live a little.” She said, winking at me.

“Aiden and Reid both said you have a lovely singing voice.” My mom said, “Aiden can sing, though he never lets anyone hear. He gets it from me. His father can’t carry a tune in a bucket.”

My dad chuckles, “I will dutifully turn the sheet music for you, darling.”

We are having happy and light conversations through breakfast and then finally, it comes to an end. Mom and dad are tired, and they want to go to their room and rest. As we are walking out of the restaurant, I hear someone calling Thalia.

“THALIA!”

It’s that asshole Armando again. He is storming over and looks like he is ready to get rough. I pull her behind me and block his path. My dad pulls my mom behind him and stands next to me, while Reid flanks my right.

“YOU AGAIN! YOU DON’T SEEM TO GET THE PICTURE, DO YOU? THALIA IS MY FIANCE! STAY THE FUCK AWAY FROM HER!” He screamed at me.

My father and Reid are growling and I’m seeing nothing but red. In a deathly low voice, I remind him, “As I recall, Thalia said she isn’t marrying you.”

“She doesn’t have a choice in the matter. This is a marriage alliance. She and I are engaged, and we are getting married!” He bit back.

I feel Thalia’s hand on my shoulder. “Aiden, let me through, please.”

I stand aside and Thalia steps forward. “Armando, I will not marry you. I will NEVER say those two magic words at the altar. Let me be clear, I would rather die a long and painful death than to marry you.”

“Thalia, enough of this childish bullshit. We are engaged. Our families are merging. Your father agreed and guaranteed it to my father last night. We are getting married this weekend and you are never to see this asshole again.” He finished pointing at me, making me growl at him louder.

“Thalia, say the word and I will bury this asshole.” I snarled.

“No.” She said quietly and then looked at Armando, “Give me a moment please.”

I see a triumphant look on that asshole’s face, and I want to beat it into his skull. Thalia grabs me and my family follows. She closes her eyes and lifts her chin. “

Aiden, Reid, Mr. and Mrs. Willis. I have to go. It was so wonderful to meet you Unfortunately, not everyone gets happy endings. I have my reasons for going back. There are loose ends I need to take care of at home.’

“Thalia, you don’t have to do this alone. I cam and will protect you.” I tell her and I feel like I’m pleading with her.

“Aiden, I don’t want to bring my family drama into your family. You guys have a good life. We are all not that lucky. I have to go now.” She said as she turned and walked away.

Leon is howling in my head at the rejection of our mate. My heart feels like it’s being ripped apart. My father puts his hand on my shoulder, “The guards will stay behind and keep her safe, Aiden. We will figure this out. Let me start investigating who her asshole father is, first.” He said.

I hear my father, but I can’t listen to him. I see my mate walking away with another man. He wants to hold her, but she pushes him away. I see her wrap her hands around herself and she is walking like she is dreading the walk home. I wanted to run after her, but she rejected me.

“Aiden?” My brother said. “Bro, I’m sorry. Whatever is going on is deeper than we understand.”

“I am going back to my room to start packing.” I said quietly. I turned and left. I can’t force her to stay with me. I can’t reject her. I waited fourteen years for her, and she is choosing that jerk. Did I do something wrong?
