Amber POV
“I need just a little more time. Please,” I begged.
“Amber, you’ve had two years. I told you one week,” he said.
“It’s just there was so much going on that I couldn’t get away. I promise I will, though. I am here for another month,” I said.
“At Ironclaw?”
“Yes. Something was found recently, but everything has been hush-hush. So I’m trying to gather information to see whether it would be valuable to you. Please, just give me some more time,” I begged.
More time to let me figure this curse out and confess everything to Adrian. More time to earn his forgiveness when he finds out how stupid I was. I was too impulsive back then. I know better now. It’s probably too late, but I won’t know unless I try.
“How do you know something was found if everyone is keeping it a secret?”
“I overheard Aiden and Isaiah before Aiden left back to Blackstone. They were talking about getting resources. I just don’t know for what. If it can give you something you need, then you can let me out of this curse, right?” I asked, practically pleading.
“I don’t think you understand how this curse works, Amber. Only the person who put it on you can let you out. But the only way to let you out of the curse is to confess it to the person who you felt betrayed by. That would be your beloved mate. It would be better for everyone if you found me something that can take down the Willis family. They are responsible for my need for revenge,” he said.
Oh, my Goddess. This means I won’t be able to confess to Adrian. The confession can only come from that bastard. If I don’t give him something, then I don't know what he will tell Adrian. If I do give him something, then it stays hidden, and I can move forward with Adrian.
“I’ll find out their secret,” I said.
“Just know that I was impulsive and stupid. If I could go back in time, I would do things differently. I swear, Adrian,” I cried harder.
Adrian held me until I exhausted myself crying. When I finished, Adrian scooped me up and took me into the bathroom. He turned on the shower and let the water steam up. He then turned to me, pulled off the maxi dress I was wearing, and stripped off his clothes. He pulled my face to his and kissed me. It was soft, romantic, and urgent.
I wrapped my arms around him and kissed him. I kissed him because I know after this month, he will hate me. I can’t tell him anything, but I’m not helping that bastard either. He doesn’t deserve my betrayal. That bastard doesn’t deserve my loyalty either.
“Make love to me, Adrian. Please,” I begged him.
He lifts me by the back of my legs and walks into the shower with me. He’s kissing me and moving his hands all over me. His touches are desperate, like he is starved for me. It makes sense. I have pushed him away, over and over again. I didn’t want to hurt him. I didn’t want any of this to happen.
I’m every bit of the fuck up my father said I was, and I don’t deserve Adrian. I have no idea what is going to happen in the next month, but right now, I want my mate. I want to remember what his love feels like. Because in a month, he will hate me. In a month, I know he will reject me. In a month, everything about our life together will change.
