Kaia POV
I’ve spent a lot of time going over everything I could find on Harvey Birch. Isaiah said he spoke with Aiden and remarked that Paul could have been in on trying to get Mia so Diego could sell her off to Julian. It makes sense, since that could be why he bought the house next door to Thalia’s house.
They must not know that Mia is not the Shadow Maw. That it’s Thalia. When they find out, though, Mia could be in a world of trouble. Harvey was getting extra payments from Paul. I still don’t understand why that was happening, and the only thing I can think of to figure it out is to ask Paul himself.
“Isaiah?” I began, “We need to talk to Paul.”
“Why?”
“He was making direct payments to Harvey. Harvey works for Julian. What was that money for? I don’t see anything glaring though. The payment itself is glaring enough, but without understanding why, I don’t know what we are looking at.”
Isaiah narrowed his eyes, “You are not going to talk to him, Kaia.”
“You did hear me say ‘WE’, right? I wasn’t asking to go alone, Isaiah. I want my hot and incredible Alpha Daddy with me,” I said, flirting with my mate and hoping he agreed. This would probably be easier if I wasn’t in a pair of sweats and a T-shirt.
He growled low, but approvingly, “What did you just call me, trouble?”
Oh. That works too. “Alpha…Daddy,” I said slowly.
He smirked, playfully. “After lunch we will go.”
“Really?”
“Really. Then you are going to keep calling me that tonight,” he growled playfully as he walked over to me and snaked his arm around me before kissing me deep and passionately.
His appetite for sex is voracious. I don’t mind, but lately, I have been tired from this pregnancy. Izo is even feeling exhausted.
“Fine. But I’m sleeping in tomorrow morning,” I laughed.
Isaiah pulled back, “You have been tired a lot, trouble.”
“Yeah, I know. Even Izo is tired. Being pregnant is a real job.”
“Perhaps we should go back to the doctor and make sure everything is okay? I’ve seen the women in my family pregnant; they are never this tired.”
“Really?”
“Yeah.”
“Okay. We will go back to the doctor as soon as I -,” I stopped as my laptop pinged.
I started clicking away again, and Isaiah noticed. “What is it?”
“Harvey is a pimp. That’s what Paul was paying him for. On top of working for Julian, he is a pimp. Paul, being the miserable, pathetic loser he is, was paying for sex. I was about to lose my mind with curiosity. I guess I don’t need to talk to Paul anymore. I wonder how many diseases he caught from fucking random women?” I said.
Isaiah laughed. “You’re hilarious, Kaia. I am concerned though. Who supplied the women to Harvey? Was it Julian?”
“Yes, Alpha. There is something you should know though, Alpha. She is pregnant.”
“I don’t care. Bring her to me.”
I hang up and sigh. Finally! Something is going right. Mia is on her way to me. I will make her submit to me; then she will be my best ally. If she refuses, she will lose her pup. I have no intentions of losing this war. Once she is back here, I will continue with that part of my plan.
The phone rings again. “What is it?”
“Mr. Ortega, it’s Harvey. Payment from Paul has not been received. I cannot locate him either.”
“He would be in his pack. Find him and beat him for the money. Are you incapable of handling a simple task?”
“It’s not that simple. Paul lost the company.”
“What do you mean, he lost the company?”
“The board has been informed that ownership has changed to his now ex-wife.”
I laughed, “That asshole was married?”
“Yes, and apparently, he lost everything in the divorce. I did some digging and found out it was because of the prenup. I’m not sure what the stipulations were, but everything transferred to his ex-wife, Kaia Black…actually, Kaia Willis now.”
I sat up immediately. Willis?
