Adrian POV
I don’t want her? Okay, I admit I could have behaved better during this time, but I never once considered rejecting Sinclair. I have been going through stages. My bastard wolf became impatient for his own damn good.
‘No. I’m forcing you to get past Amber, Adrian. Look at our mate. You have pushed her away so much that she doesn’t think we want her. You know damn well you do. Don’t sit there and try to say you don’t remember last night’s dream!’
That dream. I woke up ignoring it, and the first thing I wanted to do was see Sinclair. I used the breakfast thing as my excuse for waiting outside her door like a stalker. She was every bit of a sin in that dream. Her breathy whimpers and her sultry body sent chills up my spine. When I jolted awake, I had a massive hard-on, and I had to handle it more than once in the shower before I could even go to Sinclair to make sure she ate.
‘Three times. You handled it three times. You were getting turned on watching her try to move that tree, Adrian. Mali saw it. I saw it. Sinclair doesn’t know how to ask for what she wants. Mali told me.’
“Isn’t it, though?” Sinclair said, snapping my attention back to her. “Your family has to tell you to pay a shred of attention to me.”
She doubled over in pain again. “Your wolf had to force you to act, Adrian. If you wanted me, would any of that have needed to happen?”
I pulled her to me. Those electric jolts feel amplified. She whimpers, and damn it, if that doesn’t sound just like the sounds in my dream.
“Sinclair, it was never about you. Of course, I want you,” I said, and I crashed my lips to hers. I’m trying to be gentle, but this damn rut is making me lose my restraint.
She whimpers again, and I can tell this is her first kiss. I pulled back, which is an incredible act of pure willpower. “You’ve never been with someone, have you?” I asked, trying to hold on to my sanity.
She shook her head, “N…n…no,” she said. Her body is shaking, and I know it’s with need. I didn’t want this to happen this way. I wasn’t ready for this, but I can’t make her suffer.
“I promise I will try to be gentle. I’m trying to hold on to my restraint, Sinclair.”
Her eyes are full of longing and need. Her lip is shaking because she is trying to handle the pain. Her eyebrows furrowed as another wave of pain hit her. She doubles over, but it releases her intoxicating scent.
I groaned and kissed her again. I scooped her up in my arms and carried her into the bedroom. I set her down next to the bed. I started pulling off her T-shirt. I noticed how thin it was. She doesn’t buy herself clothes. Why? I’ll fix that later.
