We sit on our bed as Austin pulls out his phone. He hits a button and the phone starts ringing. After the third ring a lady’s voice answer, “Austin, honey! To what do I owe the pleasure of my son finally remembering I exist?”

I smile, I like her immediately.

“Mom, I’m calling because I have something important to discuss with you and I am sure once I explain everything, you will want to come home immediately.” He teases his mom.

“What did you do?” Renata asks.

“I found your daughter–in–law is what I did. So you need to come back for Luna Ceremony in a couple of days instead of having drinks on the beach in whatever island you are in woman.” He says amused.

“DAUGHTER–IN–LAW?! AUSTIN TELL ME SHE IS YOUR FATED MATE AND NOT A CHOSEN ONE!” She says with such excitement that it is infectious.

Austin however looks exasperated, “Mom, you know I would never waste time with a chosen mate. Of course she is my fated mate. She is sitting here with me. Her name is Rebel.”

My eyes go wide. I’m so not prepared. I mean I know he was calling her, but I didn’t think I would be talking to her on this call! “Hello, Mrs. Willis.”

“Rebel, there will be no Mrs. Willis. You are my daughter and I am your mother. Call me mom. Please! You have no idea how happy you have made this old woman. My son has his mate and I just know you are a lovely woman. You would have to be, for the Moon Goddess to pair you with my son!” She says with such sincerity that my eyes well up with tears.

“Okay, mom.”

Austin looks at me with love in his eyes. He seems happy that his mom is happy for us. “Mom, the ina Ceremony will be in a couple of days, do you think you will make it back in time?”

“Are you kidding me? Me, miss my only son bind himself to his Luna? Not a chance, I just bought the plane ticket. I leave tomorrow morning. Will you and Rebel meet me at the airport? I do not want to wait until I get to the pack house to meet my daughter!”

Austin chuckles, “Of course. Rebel and I will meet you at the airport. Send me the flight information. When you get here, we will tell you everything from how we met to what we have plann for the ceremony, okay?”

She scoffed, “Not another word. You are my son and this is a moment I have been waiting for you to call me about for years. Now, let me get packing and then get to bed. I am so excited to see you both tomorrow. Good night! Love you both!”

The call ended and I don’t know why but my face has a huge ear to ear grin. I don’t know if this is how it is supposed to feel to have a mother’s love, but that’s what it sure feels like. Not towards me but just seeing and feeling it between Austin and his mom, it could fill up a room.

“You look happy. I thought you might be nervous or scared.” Austin looks at me with a smile.
