His Regret Arrived Three Days Late novel Chapter 82

“Did you see Annika?” Yazmin asked as Conrad walked into the living room.

“No.” The single, clipped word spoke volumes about his mood.

“I really don't understand what you're doing. Annika's friend seems very important to her. She was completely distraught when she came to see me. Conrad, why don't we just let Jeremiah help her?”

Jeremiah was the Beryl Group's top legal mind. If he took a case, it was as good as won. Yazmin couldn't bear to see Annika in pain.

“Stay out of Annika's business from now on,” Conrad said, his face a cold mask. He loosened his tie and started up the stairs, then stopped. He turned, his eyes dark as he warned her, “Or you can consider yourself no longer my mother.”

Yazmin shivered, her lips trembling as she watched his tall frame disappear upstairs. Her face paled. Not even on the day he brought Serena's ashes home, or when she'd thrown Serena out, had he ever spoken to her like that.

Yazmin sensed this was serious. As much as she sympathized with Annika, she was still angry about the abortion. And now, she felt she could no longer meddle in their affairs.

She prayed they would find a way to reconcile.

Back at the Sargent Villa, Annika got a call from Hank. He told her a lawyer named Mr. Chandler had agreed to take Harrison's case. Elated, she told him to come over immediately.

Ten minutes later, Hank arrived. They were talking in the living room when Hank's phone rang. He stepped out onto the patio to take the call.

Annika went to the kitchen for a plate of strawberries. When she returned, Hank was off the phone, his face grim. She frowned. “Who was that?”
