How to Train Your Ex-Billionaire novel Chapter 255

When Winifred came out, Yvan immediately noticed her red, swollen eyes. "What happened?" he asked, concerned.

Winifred just shook her head slightly. "It's nothing. Let's talk outside."

The moment they stepped out of the police station, Winifred threw her arms around Yvan and burst into tears.

"What's wrong?" Yvan asked urgently.

Winifred didn't answer, just sobbed heartbrokenly.

Yvan had a strong suspicion of what it was. He didn't ask again, just held her and stroked her back, knowing she needed to let it all out.

Winifred cried in his arms for more than ten minutes before her sobs finally began to subside.

"Feeling any better?" Yvan murmured, tenderly kissing her forehead.

Winifred mumbled an affirmation and lifted her head from his chest, only to see a large, damp patch on his shirt from her tears and, she suspected, snot.

Her eyes were still red. "I'm sorry, I ruined your shirt."

She knew Yvan was a bit of a neat freak and hated even the smallest stain on his clothes.

Yvan glanced down. "It's fine."

"Let me buy you a new one," Winifred said, embarrassed.

"It’s okay, it'll dry in no time," Yvan said dismissively. He cupped her face, looking her over. "Look at you. Your eyes are all swollen."

Tear tracks stained her cheeks, and her eyelashes were damp. Seeing her like this made his heart ache. He didn't have a tissue, so he used his sleeve to gently wipe her face.

"Sorry, I don't have a tissue," Yvan said.

Winifred looked at him, then hugged him again.

This time, she made sure to rest her head on the dry side of his shirt.

"Can you tell me what happened now?" Yvan asked, caressing her cheek.

A fresh wave of sorrow washed over Winifred. "Yvan, my father... he died a long time ago."
