I Chose Me Over My Marriage novel Chapter 122

Lyra stared at him, suddenly finding him incredibly foreign.

More unfamiliar than ever before.

"Since we're divorced, I hope that even if we cross paths in the future, we treat each other as strangers."

As she finished speaking, she meant to turn and leave, but Maxwell gripped her wrist tightly.

Lyra winced in pain, furrowing her brows as she tried to shake him off, but unable to overcome the physical difference in their strength, she couldn't break free.

"Maxwell, are you out of your mind?"

"I'm not crazy!" Maxwell's eyes were bloodshot. "You're the one who pushed me step by step to where I am today. But while I used to hate you, now I feel absolutely nothing. In fact, I should be thanking you."

"Is this how you thank me?" Lyra offered a noncommittal smile. "If you truly want to thank me for bringing you to this point, you should take a good hard look at how much you've gained over the years from our marriage. The money, the fame, the status, and the position—stop playing the victim when you've reaped all the benefits. What kind of person are you? You're selfish, always chasing the immediate gain in front of you. If you really want to talk about gratitude right now, why don't you get on your knees?"

At this point, she no longer needed to hold anything back.

In the past, out of respect for Maxwell's ties to the Sterling family and the genuine care others had shown him over the years, she had held back from saying anything too harsh.

Now things were different.

Maxwell had completely severed ties with the Sterlings and was trying to build his own empire.
