By the time they left the set, it was already evening.
The location was right in the heart of the city, and traffic outside was heavily backed up.
The two of them had taken a cab to get there.
They waited for a long time, but not a single ride-share driver accepted their request.
Chloe let out a frustrated sigh. "I knew we should have just driven."
"Well, blame it on us drinking so much."
"It would be amazing if a good Samaritan just magically appeared and offered us a ride home right now."
To Chloe's utter surprise, the moment the words left her mouth, a car pulled up and stopped right in front of them.
"Huh? Since when are my words this magical?"
As Chloe stood there bewildered, the rear window slowly rolled down, revealing a face she found both familiar and deeply repulsive. She immediately rolled her eyes.
"What terrible luck!"
Julian Jude had been wearing a hopeful smile, but the moment he heard her comment, his face instantly fell.
"Tsk, Chloe, I stopped out of the goodness of my heart to offer you both a ride home. Don't be so ungrateful."
"Do you honestly think I need it?"
Chloe straightened up, her expression turning ice-cold.
"When are you going to sign the divorce papers with me? That's when I'll start giving you the time of day."
She then turned to Lyra, taking a deep breath to steady her nerves.
"Let's go, Lyra. We're not wasting our time with an arrogant jerk like him."
Seeing her reaction, Lyra felt a wave of sympathetic exasperation. She obediently stood up, ready to walk away from the set with her friend.
Watching them leave, Julian's face instantly darkened.
"Wait!"
He shouted suddenly, throwing open his car door and marching quickly after them.
