I Chose Me Over My Marriage novel Chapter 130

Lyra spoke with a persistent, mocking smile playing on her lips.

Just then, she spotted a cab approaching from a distance and immediately raised her hand to flag it down.

When the cab stopped, she and Chloe exchanged a quick glance and hopped straight in.

By the time Maxwell and Julian snapped out of their tense standoff, the two women had already driven away.

Maxwell clenched his fists and shot a furious glare at Julian. His chest felt tight with rage, looking at the man as if he were an eyesore.

"Julian, you can't even sort out your own mess, so stop meddling in other people's business."

"Oh." Julian crossed his arms, looking at him with an amused smirk. "Buddy, let me remind you that you and Lyra are already divorced, whereas my wife and I are not. I will never end up like you. Also, save the act. My wife was absolutely right—you cheated, so who are you trying to fool with this noble facade? We're both men here. You think I can't see right through you?"

Julian was bristling with hostility, every word he spoke stabbing mercilessly into Maxwell.

"Julian, you..."

Maxwell barely got a word out before Julian cut him off again.

"I have nothing left to say to you. Instead of wasting time starting pointless fights, you'd be better off trying to improve yourself and change your ways."

With that, Julian got straight into his car.

Maxwell ground his teeth, the blazing anger in his chest threatening to consume his last shred of reason.

After a long moment, he finally snapped back to reality and let out a bitter scoff.

"It really is true. No matter who you are, once you fall from grace, everyone takes a turn kicking you while you're down."

Especially now. Without the Sterling family's backing, how much value did he really hold?
