It was a flimsy excuse, one that seemed meant more to soothe her own conscience than anything else.
"Alright, get going. It's getting late, and you only have one day. The sooner you head out, the more time you'll have to find inspiration."
Prompted by the reminder, Courtney nodded instantly. Without a second of hesitation, she said her goodbyes and left.
Once Courtney was gone, the entire office fell into a heavy silence.
Lyra rubbed her aching temples, stood up, and pulled a file from the bookshelf. She returned to her desk and began flipping through it meticulously.
Her phone rang, pulling her out of her focus. Seeing Chloe's name flashing on the screen, she answered it without a second thought.
"Hey Chloe, what's up?"
"Lyra, Director Grant invited us to dinner tonight. You wanna come?"
Director Howard Grant was the director for Aria Moon's new show—the very one Lyra had invested in.
He was a decent guy with a stellar reputation in the industry.
Unfortunately, she had missed him the last time she visited Unit B.
Now that the opportunity was practically falling into her lap, she was definitely interested.
"Do you want to go?"
Chloe didn't hesitate for a second. "Of course! And it's not just Director Grant—Director Chambers will be there too. You know I've worked with Director Grant on several shows, so we're pretty tight. He and Director Chambers are teaming up on something, so this is the perfect chance to network with Silas Chambers. Opportunities like this are one in a million, and I am not missing it."
Hearing her pitch, Lyra was completely sold.
She had crossed paths with Silas Chambers before, and their working relationship was solid. Strengthening ties with these two directors would only benefit her.
"Alright. Text me the time and location, and I'll be there."
"Perfect! I'll send it right over."
Lyra hung up the phone.
