I Chose Me Over My Marriage novel Chapter 185

That excuse might have pacified Cecilia.

But Miles saw right through it.

"I know he's in this building. Tell him this: if he refuses to see me, he will lose everything he's built, and he won't even get a seat at the final negotiation table. He knows exactly what's at stake."

With that, Miles slammed the door shut.

The bodyguard weighed his options for a split second before practically sprinting down the hall to deliver the message, terrified of botching the situation.

Back in the room, Miles scanned his surroundings with predatory focus.

Based on the lavish layout, they were likely trapped inside a sprawling private estate.

The heavy blackout curtains were drawn tight from the outside, but the interior lights blazed relentlessly. An en-suite bathroom sat to his left.

He walked into the bathroom. Aside from basic complimentary toiletries, it was entirely sterile. It looked like a hastily prepped safe room rather than a meticulously planned prison.

His eyes narrowed. The puzzle pieces were falling into place.

Returning to the main room, he glanced at Cecilia, still sitting tensely on the sofa, and the untouched food tray beside her.

"Don't worry, they won't poison the food. Eat if you're starving. Don't wait for me. I'll find a way to get us out of here."

Cecilia shook her head instantly. "It's fine. I'm not hungry."

Miles didn't push the issue.

Barely a minute later, the door swung open.

Seeing the man stride into the room, a mocking sneer curved on Miles' lips.

"Traveling all the way from Averston just for this. It's blatantly obvious you've hit a dead end."
