I Chose Me Over My Marriage novel Chapter 209

"Alright, make sure you eat well. I'll let you go. Call me if you need anything."

With that, Harrison hung up.

Lyra slipped her phone away, then looked at Miles, meeting his deep, unfathomable eyes that resembled a bottomless abyss.

"You heard what Dad said. We've been a family all these years. Even if you've left, you should have at least given Mom and Dad a heads-up. They worry, and they get sad. Me included. We spent the last month waiting for just one message from you, and what did we get?"

Maybe he wasn't doing well at all.

But mostly, it was the crushing realization that their anxiety meant absolutely nothing.

Miles didn't respond immediately. His entire demeanor remained exceptionally calm.

Lyra let out a soft sigh. "It's getting late, and I have things to do tomorrow. I can't stay here forever. Maxwell isn't stupid enough to try again so soon, and I'll be more careful from now on."

Having said her piece, she headed for the door.

But before she could take two steps, her head spun violently, and her vision went black.

The last thing she saw before losing consciousness was Miles catching her in his arms, his face painted with sheer panic.

Lyra had a dream.

In the dream, everything was back to the way it used to be.

Miles hadn't left; he was still truly a part of the Lennox Family.

But when she woke up, everything had changed.

She slowly opened her eyes to a stark white ceiling.

Her body felt like it had been brutally beaten; she couldn't muster an ounce of strength.

She tried to move her hand but accidentally brushed against something cold.

As sensation returned, she realized it was a hand.

Turning her head, she saw Miles leaning against the edge of the bed, his hand resting near hers.
