Miles Lennox suddenly gripped Lyra Lennox's wrists, pinning her beneath him. With quick, tactical precision, he held her hands down, unbuckled his belt, and bound her wrists to the headboard.
The next second, he rolled off the bed and strode straight into the bathroom. He splashed freezing water onto his face to completely clear his head before pulling out his phone.
"Get Dr. Sutton over here. Right now."
Hanging up, Miles walked back to the bed, deliberately averting his gaze as he buttoned up Lyra's shirt.
She was still in sheer agony, her skin radiating an unnatural, burning heat.
All Miles could do was continuously soak a towel in cold water, wiping down her flushed face and arms to cool her off.
Twenty agonizing minutes passed before a heavy knock finally sounded at the door.
He opened it to reveal a man in his sixties; despite his shock of white hair, the older gentleman's eyes were piercingly sharp.
"Miles, is there an emergency? You don't usually call this late."
"Dr. Sutton, please take a look at Lyra. I think she's been drugged."
Miles kept his tone utterly respectful.
The elderly man standing before him was Dr. Alistair Sutton, the Lennox family's most trusted private physician.
Hearing Lyra's name, Dr. Sutton froze. "Lyra?"
Miles nodded and stepped aside to let him in.
Dr. Sutton immediately hurried over to the bed, peering down at her.
She was a little calmer now, but she was sweating profusely. The fiery flush in her cheeks had faded into a sickly, exhausted pallor.
"She's definitely been drugged, and it's an incredibly potent strain. If she doesn't get it out of her system soon, it could cause irreversible damage to her internal organs."
At those words, Miles's expression darkened into something truly predatory.
Initially, he thought the chaotic club environment was to blame—that some creep had seen Lyra sitting alone and tried to take advantage.
Now, it was clear this was far more sinister than a random attack.
