Drugged?
Lyra struggled to process the horrifying word.
"What do you mean? What exactly happened?"
Chloe sat down and recounted every single detail of the previous night.
Since she had left early on, most of her information came directly from Miles.
"Are you saying Miles brought me to the hospital?"
That revelation was incredibly tough to swallow. She never imagined that after so many years apart, her reunion with him would happen under such catastrophic circumstances.
"You shouldn't be dwelling on him right now. You need to figure out who would actually try to pull something so malicious," Chloe warned.
As they locked eyes, a shared, silent realization sparked between them. They both had a suspect in mind.
"Pulling the security footage will tell us everything," Chloe said firmly.
But Lyra wasn't so convinced.
"Whoever had the nerve to do this in a crowded club definitely planned it out flawlessly. What I want to know is how they knew I'd be there in the first place. Did they buy the drug in advance? Or has someone been stalking my every move? Because if it's the latter, that's absolutely terrifying."
There was no such thing as a mere coincidence in this world.
At least, not in Lyra's playbook.
"I..."
Chloe was about to say more, but her gaze flicked to the doorway, and she instantly snapped her mouth shut, rapidly shifting gears.
"You just woke up, so you must be starving. I'm going to grab you some food, but I'll be right back!"
