Lyra didn't want them to know the ugly details of what had happened; it would only complicate things further.

Harrison let out a heavy breath, the tight lines on his forehead relaxing.

"That's good."

Throughout dinner, Lyra found herself distracted.

She was trying to anticipate Maxwell's next move. Would he actually let this go, or was he preparing another trap?

Eleanor glanced at her, then shifted her attention to Miles. After a brief hesitation, she spoke up. "Miles, the Chen family's daughter recently returned from abroad. You remember her, right? She visited the house a while ago, and the two of you met."

Miles paused with his fork halfway to his mouth. He looked up at Eleanor, waiting for her to finish.

"Mrs. Chen mentioned to me that her daughter had a really good impression of you. She wanted to know if you'd be open to taking her out and getting to know her."

Lyra finally snapped out of her daze.

"The Chen family? Oh, I remember her! She was gorgeous, and she's right around your age. You're definitely at that point in your life where you should start thinking about settling down."

Lyra smiled warmly as she spoke, genuinely wanting the best for him.

Instantly, the attention of everyone at the table zeroed in on Miles.

Miles met their gazes one by one before finally locking eyes with Harrison.

Without a second of hesitation, he agreed.

"Sure."

The speed of his answer left Harrison visibly surprised.

Eleanor was shocked too.

She tested the waters carefully. "Are you really sure about this?"

Under her watchful gaze, Miles gave a slow, deliberate nod.

"I remember her. She seemed nice enough."

Seeing that he was actually open to it, Harrison and Eleanor both breathed a sigh of relief.

"That's wonderful. If you're willing to put the effort in, I'm sure things will work out beautifully."

"Let's not get ahead of ourselves. We'll just take it slow and see what happens."

Lyra finished her meal quickly and excused herself to head upstairs.
