Chapter 213
The chaotic memoties from that night came in fragments, flashing through Sophie’s mind.
The man’s muscular build suddenly pressed down on her. She could feel the distinct ridges of his abdominal muscles through her dress, and the string arm that lay across her side…
“Sophie…”
Marcus’s hoarse voice pulled Sophie out of her memories.
“This is what it means to beg for help.”
Before Sophie could react, a sharp fragrance filled her mouth.
Marcus’s scent filled her entire mouth, then her whole body.
By the end, even her heart seemed to be coated with his scent…

The sound of a door lock turning echoed.
Sophie quickly shoved Marcus away, hurriedly trying to fix her disheveled hair and racing heartbeat.
Mr. and Mrs. Chandler came out of the study and saw the two of them sitting with their backs to them. They didn’t notice anything unusual.
Sophie struggled to calm her breathing. Just then, she seemed to realize something and turned quickly to look at Marcus.
Marcus’s face was calm, as though the ambiguous whirlwind that had just happened only involved Sophie.
If it weren’t for the belt still around his wrist, Sophie might have thought everything that just happened was just a hallucination.
“What are you waiting for? Quickly undo the belt!”
Sophie’s voice was hurried, her face filled with guilt.
If her parents saw the belt wrapped around Marcus’s wrist, she wouldn’t be able to clear herself even if she jumped into the Yellow River!
Marcus raised his hand, his voice carrying an almost unnoticeable trace of restraint.
“I’m tied up, how can I undo it?”
Sophie quickly pulled his hand over. Her delicate fingers trembled slightly as she tried but couldn’t untie the belt.
“Dad, what are you two doing?”
Mr. Chandler’s voice came.
Sophie acted quickly, grabbing a nearby blanket and draping it over Marcus’s hand, perfectly covering the belt.
After doing this, she lifted her head, pretending to be calm.
“We didn’t do anything. Mr. Morgan felt a bit cold, so I got him a blanket.”
Mr. and Mrs. Chandler looked at the strange scene with confusion.

Chapter 213
It was the peak of summer, and the air conditioning temperature was just right at 26 degrees.
Would it be cold?
They didn’t dwell on it too much. They smiled and turned to Marcus.
“Mr. Morgan, thank you so much for your help this time.”
Just earlier, several companies that were going to terminate contracts with the Chandler family called Mr. Chandler, saying that it was all a misunderstanding and that they would continue their cooperation.
Though they didn’t say much, Mr. Chandler felt that Marcus had been secretly helping them.
“Sir, you’re too polite.”
If it were the past, Marcus would have stood up to shake Mr. Chandler’s hand out of politeness.
But now, Marcus could only lean back on the sofa, unable to get up.
Sophie noticed his awkwardness and spoke up to explain.
“Mom and Dad, you should go ahead and handle your work. I’ll entertain Mr. Morgan here.”
Sophie gently pushed Mr. and Mrs. Chandler toward the study, talking as they walked, “With all the work at the company, you shouldn’t be distracted. Go ahead and get to it!”
Mr. and Mrs. Chandler were still puzzled but headed back to the study.
Once the door closed behind them, Mrs. Chandler couldn’t help but speak up.
“Do you think Sophie and Mr. Morgan were doing something on the sofa just now?”
They were both experienced, and even though Sophie tried to hide it, they could tell something was off.
After Marcus confirmed his feelings for Sophie, he had been particularly polite to them. If nothing had happened, he wouldn’t be reclining on the sofa
like that!
Mr. Chandler sighed in helplessness, his eyes full of resignation.
“Our daughter is too reckless.”
Mrs. Chandler teased him gently, pushing him toward the study, “Alright, let’s handle the company’s matters. We won’t disturb them anymore.”
In the living room, Sophie lifted the blanket off Marcus’s hand and undid the belt.
Once she finished, Sophie glanced at Marcus, her expression full of confusion.
“You’ve already contacted those companies, haven’t you?”
Marcus’s voice was muffled, “Mm.”
His body was still feeling the aftermath of what happened earlier, and the cause of all this chaos was now calmly discussing other topics.
Could he not feel frustrated?
Sophie poked Marcus’s arm, “Alright, I admit I was wrong earlier.”

“I thought you were trying to blackmail me and take advantage, so I wanted to teach your a lesson
“I didn’t expect you had already solved the problem for me.”
Marcus raised an eyebrow, his voice teasing.
“Now that you know, don’t you have anything to say to me?7
Sophie stood up and solemnly howed deeply to Marcus.
“I thank you. I sincerely thank you!”
Marcus was on the verge of laughing in frustration.
“It’s I who should thank you.”
Marcus stood up, his movements signaling his displeasure as he walked toward the door.
Sophie knew she had been playing with fire, so no wonder Marcus was upset.
She quickly followed Marcus, laughing as she saw him off to the car.
Before the car started, Marcus asked,
“Are you coming to stay at the penthouse?”
Sophie couldn’t possibly misunderstand such a direct invitation. She decisively declined.
“Marcus, don’t forget I’m still pregnant.”
“I had the penthouse renovated yesterday, thinking that it’s your place and you should at least see how it looks after the renovation before I invited you. What were you thinking?”
Marcus’s lips curled into a mischievous smile, “Sophie, you’re not planning to…”
“Shut up!”
Sophie’s face turned red as she slammed the back door shut. She then turned to the front passenger seat and spoke to the secretary,
“Secretary Chen, you can go now. Bye!”
After Marcus left, Sophie turned and returned to the Chandler house.
As soon as she entered, she saw Mr. and Mrs. Chandler coming out of the study.
They first noticed the disheveled sofa, then looked at Sophie, who had just entered.
“Has Mr. Morgan left?” Mrs. Chandler asked.
Sophie nodded, and Mrs. Chandler continued, “Sophie, you were too reckless earlier.”
“Mr. Morgan is still Mr. Morgan. Look, he quietly helped our family solve such a big problem. He clearly still has some cards up his sleeve.”
“Someone like him will rise back to the top sooner or later. How can you…”
Mrs. Chandler didn’t finish her sentence but gave a meaningful glance at the messy sofa.
Sophie felt awkward and lowered her head in embarrassment.

Mr. Chandler patted Mrs. Chandler’s shoulder. “Alright, you go rest. I have something to talk about with Sophie.”
Mrs. Chandler, knowing Mr. Chandler was trying to protect Sophie, playfully glared at him and then went to the bedroom.
Sophie happily ran over to Mr. Chandler’s side, linking arms with him.
“Dad, I knew you were the best to me.”
