Chapter 252
Marcus furrowed his brows slightly. “Um?”
Sophie sat up straight, as if she was about to push the man away.
“Today’s incident… the Morgan bodyguards arrived too quickly. It was as if they were prepared in advance,” Sophie said, her eyes flickering coldly. “Marcus, answer me, why are you watching me?”
The words fell, and the man chuckled helplessly. He pulled Sophie toward him, his face coming dangerously close to hers, their noses almost touching.
“Sophie, have you forgotten? This mall belongs to the Hills Group,” Marcus said with a sly smile.
Sophie immediately snapped back to her senses, realizing she had fallen into his trap. Her face flushed with shame and anger, and she quickly tried to turn and leave.
But her body was already trapped by the man.
“The founder of the Hills Group… isn’t he like a god to you?” Marcus teased with a mischievous smile.
Sophie sighed in helplessness. She had rushed out so hastily today that she had forgotten about this detail!
And now she had been caught off guard…
Marcus’s lips drew closer, but Sophie pushed him away, her face flushed. In one swift motion, she escaped his embrace.
“Cough, cough, it’s getting late. I should go home,” Sophie said, straightening her hair that had gotten a bit messy. She moved toward the door.
Upon hearing this, Marcus’s expression darkened, and a hint of confusion flashed in his eyes. He suddenly stood up and stepped in front of her, blocking her way.
“Where do you think you’re going? Sophie, have you forgotten that I’m your legal husband?”
The redness in his eyes seemed to burn as if he wanted to devour her whole.
Sophie froze in place.
Though they had already registered their marriage, she was still adjusting to the sudden change in identity. She hadn’t quite gotten used to it yet, and she hadn’t stayed at Marcus’s place for the past few days.
Marcus stepped forward, tightly wrapping his arms around her waist. His handsome face suddenly moved closer, and the warm, intimate air surrounded her. Sophie instinctively stepped back, but he quickly pulled her back into his embrace.
“Am I really so hard for you to handle?” The question came out with a tone of feigned grievance.
Sophie lifted her gaze, meeting his eyes–eyes that once exuded arrogance, but now looked helpless and slightly pitiful.
“I just… I’m not used to it,” Sophie murmured softly, her gaze falling.
Hearing this, Marcus immediately understood. With a snap of his fingers, the butler quickly arrived.
“Sir, what can I do for you?”
“Pack everything here,” Marcus’s voice turned cold.
Sophie stared, wide–eyed in disbelief–What was he planning to do?

Chapter 252
Before she could process her thoughts, Marcus spoke again, “Move everything to the Chandler family villa.”
Sophie’s brows furrowed tightly. As Marcus was about to leave, she grabbed his hand suddenly. “What are you doing?”
“I’m just accompanying my wife, who’s a bit homesick. I’ll be staying at her mother’s house for a while. Is that a problem?” Marcus countered with a question, and Sophie was left speechless, unable to refute him.
The servants of the Morgan family worked swiftly. Within twenty minutes, Marcus’s belongings were all packed.
Marcus took Sophie’s hand and said softly, “Alright, let’s go.”
In the car, Sophie suddenly felt a pang of fear. But the car roared to life, and it was already too late to turn back. Well…
She sighed deeply, looking out at the passing trees–this trip back home was also a chance to help Sherry ease the tension with her brother. Sophie always felt
uneasy about the strained relationship between them.
The car came to a stop just as the Chandler family servants hurried to greet them.
“Sir, madam, Mr. Morgan has arrived…”
Although Marcus was now their son–in–law, the special status of his identity still made Sophie’s parents nervous. When they heard the sound of small footsteps, they immediately stood up, clearing their throats.
“Why are you back all of a sudden?”
“Quickly, prepare a guest room,” Sophie’s father hastily directed.
Sophie’s mother shot him a look of disdain, then pushed him aside and turned to the servants. “Forget the guest room, just prepare Sophie’s room.”
The servants left, and Sophie’s mother turned to face her husband with a resigned expression. “Listen to what you’re saying! Sophie and Marcus are already married, and you want them to sleep in separate rooms?”
Sophie’s father lowered his gaze, a faint hint of dissatisfaction flickering in his eyes. “I haven’t seen the marriage certificate…”
Sophie’s mother sighed, about to scold her husband, but the door suddenly opened.
“Dad, Mom, I’m back.”
Sophie’s mother immediately brightened, her expression softening as she looked at Sophie. She greeted her with a smile. “Sophie, why are you back so suddenly? What do you want to eat? Let me arrange something in the kitchen!”
Before Sophie could speak, Marcus stepped forward with an exaggerated, almost pitiful expression, standing between Sophie and her mother.
“Mom, Sophie said she missed home and couldn’t feel at home with me. It seems I didn’t give her enough…”
His voice trembled with a touch of a fake sob, and for the first time, Sophie’s parents saw this side of Marcus.
Sophie froze in place–What? Wasn’t he angry earlier? Why was he the one complaining now?
Sophie’s mother cleared her throat, her smile slightly stiffened. “Mr. Morgan…”
“Mom, you have to decide whose fault this is!” Marcus’s voice grew more plaintive, and his gaze toward Sophie held a mix of grievance and a touch of hidden triumph only they could understand.
Sophie’s mother cleared her throat, her brows knitting together. “Sophie, this is your fault…”
“No, Mom, it’s not like that…” Sophie tried to explain, but her mother raised her hand, silencing her.
“Alright, Sophie, Mr. Morgan has been good enough to you. You can’t keep complaining. I understand your emotions during your pregnancy, but if you want to stay at home, there’s one condition–don’t bully Mr. Morgan!”

The moment those words left her mouth, Sophie froze in place, staring at her mother in disbelief. “Bully Marcus?”
With her mother’s decree, Marcus instantly straightened up, a smug look on his face as he raised an eyebrow and looked at supitile.
Sophie sighed deeply.

The command left Sophie utterly furious. She raised her foot and stomped on the man’s calf. The pain shot up his leg, and he instinctively pulled his leg back, allowing Sophie to slip away.
