Celine clutched her bunning cheek, staring at Sophie in disbelief

“You actually slapped me?”

Sophie’s eyes were ice cold.

“Keep talking trash and next time it won’t just be a slap.”

Tears welled up in Celine’s eyes as she turned and ran to Marcus.

“Mr. Morgan, did you see that? Your niece–in–law just hit me!”

Marcus glanced at her blankly.

“Niece–in–law, not my wife. Not my problem.”

Sophie felt a strange sting in her chest when she heard that.

Celine, on the other hand, thought he was distancing himself on purpose–her eyes lit up with satisfaction.

If Marcus wasn’t defending that woman, then she didn’t have to hold back.

After a round of persuasion, Celine finally left to treat the swelling on her face.

Marcus casually sat down on a nearby bench, and the crowd of rich heirs swarmed him with flattery.

Sophie noticed his obvious aloofness and quietly walked away, not wanting to intrude.

“Marcus!”

Ryan Mason took off his helmet and jogged over excitedly.

“Did you see that last lap? I think I’m finally improving!”

“It was okay.”

Marcus replied half–heartedly.

Ryan was about to keep bragging when he spotted Sophie sitting alone in a corner.

“Hey–why is Sophie sitting all the way over there? You two fight or something?”

Silence fell.

Everyone suddenly turned to stare between Marcus and Sophie, their eyes filled with shock and juicy speculation.

That comment… hinted at something way beyond acquaintance.

Feeling all the eyes on her, Sophie’s face turned red.

“I’m going to the restroom.”

She quickly fled the scene.

Ryan immediately realized he’d said something wrong.

He glanced nervously at Marcus.

“Run your mouth again and I’ll rip your damn tongue out.”

Marcus‘ voice was low and dangerous.

Meanwhile, in the restroom, Sophie had just finished washing her hands when Celine stormed in–followed by a group of elite heiresses.

Sophie instantly went on high alert and subtly reached for her phone.

“Trying to call for backup?”

One of the tall girls grabbed her wrist and snatched the phone, slamming it hard on the floor.

It shattered into pieces.

Sophie glared at Celine.

“You do realize I came here with Marcus, right?”

“That’s exactly why I’m going to teach you a lesson!”

Jealousy burned in Celine’s eyes.

“A piece of trash like you thinks you can seduce him?”

“Right? Sitting in his car like you own it. So shameless!”

“Using your status as his niece–in–law to flirt with her uncle? Disgusting.”

The girl closest to Sophie raised her hand, ready to slap her.

Sophie caught her wrist mid–air.

“If any of you so much as touch me today, I swear I’ll make you pay a hundredfold.”

Celine laughed wildly.

“You still think you’re tough? Sweetheart, you should be more worried about whether you’ll make it out of here alive.”

She grabbed Sophie’s chin with her long, sharp nails.

“Sophie… today, you finally fell into my hands.”

With a vicious shove, Celine pushed her straight into a bathroom stall and slammed the door shut.
