The moment the words left her mouth, Jorrod's eyes snapped open, and he violently jerked his head away.
Sienna simply slapped her palm flat against his cheek and forced his face back toward her. "It's for the face, it's for the face. Honestly, Your Highness, where exactly am I supposed to manifest a brand new towel for you in the middle of the night? Stop being so dramatic."
Given the circumstances.
Jorrod finally decided to endure it.
Thankfully, the sharp, blinding pain that had just hit him came and went quickly, lasting only a brief second.
Once the wave of nausea passed, Jorrod slowly opened his eyes halfway. From his angle, his gaze landed right on her lips. They were full, flushed, and constantly moving as she muttered an endless stream of complaints at him. He wanted to shut his eyes again, but his gaze involuntarily drifted lower.
Under the light, the woman's cheek was smooth and pale as jade. Stray locks of hair fell softly around her ear, but lower down, a stark, deep-red smudge, about the size of a mole, marred the pristine skin of her neck.
Was that blood?
It looked like it was his.
He must have accidentally brushed against her while she was hauling him up the stairs.
Jorrod closed his eyes, his throat working in a slight swallow. "Your neck..."
Without warning, Sienna reached out and casually brushed her fingers against his neck instead.
Unlike the rough, damp texture of the towel, her touch was light, grazing across his skin like a feather. It sent a sudden jolt of electricity through him, the sensation causing every muscle in his body to pull taut.
His breath hitched.
Sienna leaned in slightly, her eyes scanning his throat. Realizing what he was talking about, a brief flash of apology crossed her face.
"Oh, the bite mark from last time is still there. Sorry about that, I tend to bite pretty hard."
Jorrod pressed his lips together, keeping his eyes firmly shut. Suddenly, he had absolutely no desire to speak anymore.
His mind was clearing up, which unfortunately meant his body's physical discomfort was becoming much more pronounced. He shifted uncomfortably, his large frame awkwardly crammed into the tiny space. He felt ridiculously restricted.
"Do you have a sofa? Or a chair... lying here is incredibly cramped..."
Sienna froze.
The towel hovered uselessly in mid-air.
"Mr. Vaughn, open your eyes and take a good look. The object currently resting beneath your royal ass *is* a sofa."
Suddenly, his jaw was pried open, and the rough, damp fibers of the cloth scraped aggressively against his teeth and lips. His thick eyebrows immediately slammed together.
He turned his head and spat the towel out. His pale lips, having been aggressively scrubbed by the fabric, finally showed a hint of healthy color.
But his gaze was absolutely freezing.
His jawline tightened until it looked as sharp as an unsheathed blade.
Jorrod glared up at her, his voice dripping with ice.
"You have a death wish."
Sienna practically jumped, staring at him in sheer disbelief. "Is that how you speak to the person who just saved your life?"
Jorrod shot her a withering look, let out a cold scoff, and turned his head away, choosing to stare at the blank wall instead.
Sienna wasn't blind.
She had just been virtually stabbed by his glare.
"Mr. Vaughn, you were bleeding out on a tree in the middle of the night, and you straight-up refused to go to a hospital. Tell me, between the two of us, who exactly has the death wish?"
