I Fell for the Man Who Ruined Me, Then He Forgot He Ever Loved Me Back novel Chapter 11

Jorrod made up his mind completely.

Thinking she was reasonable was his own delusion, and finding her remotely tolerable a moment ago was pure blindness. Talking to this woman was a complete waste of energy, leaving him with nothing but a stomach full of rage.

He pressed his lips together, his jaw tightening into a cold, stern line as he remained dead silent.

Since he wasn't speaking, Sienna didn't bother entertaining him either. She glanced up at the wall clock.

Half an hour had passed. She should be here by now.

Two urgent knocks echoed from the door.

Speak of the devil. Judging by the sheer force of the knocking, Sienna knew it was Elara at the door.

However, Jorrod's reaction was far more intense than she anticipated.

Despite his obvious exhaustion, the sudden noise made him brace his hands against the sofa in high alert. Veins bulged along his forearms as he forced his battered body upward.

"There's someone else in your apartment..."

Before he could finish, Sienna poked him squarely in the shoulder, shoving him back down.

Jorrod furrowed his brow and let out a low groan, collapsing back onto the cushions.

"Besides you playing king of the castle, there's no 'someone else' here. Just lie down and stop moving."

When Elara received Sienna's call, she had just gotten off her shift at the hospital.

She hadn't wasted a second, grabbing her medical kit and rushing straight over.

Now, she stood beside the sofa, carefully examining the strange man.

Satisfied with how Sienna had handled the patient, she offered a thumbs-up. "Good job. You kept him awake."

"Of course," Sienna said proudly.

Just keeping him conscious had been exhausting enough.
