I Fell for the Man Who Ruined Me, Then He Forgot He Ever Loved Me Back novel Chapter 101

The office was already quiet.

Their commotion hadn't exactly been subtle.

The little drama not only drew plenty of stares but also sparked a wave of hushed whispers.

"I can't believe Liam Carter actually knows that gorgeous woman from downstairs."

"Arguments just hit different when the people are that attractive. Add Nathaniel Yale to the mix, and when I turned around, I honestly thought they were filming a soap opera."

"What soap opera? Delete that romance reading app off your phone right now. You're giving yourself dark circles every single day."

"They were speaking in riddles. What were they even talking about? A love triangle?"

Liam's arms hung stiffly at his sides, his fists clenched tight.

He didn't say another word, simply turning and walking back to his desk.

That afternoon, Nate sent a message right on cue.

[Handed over successfully.]

He attached a photo of a stranger's back.

She had bright red hair that looked like it had been caught in an explosion.

Mindy Monroe came over to Sienna Quinn's desk to grab some documents, accidentally catching a glimpse of the screen. She froze.

"You actually have Nathaniel Yale's number?"

Sienna looked up. "I added him to send something over. Do you know him?"

"Who doesn't? We're all here to work, but he's here for his pop-star debut."

"Debut?"

"Yeah, he's just a kid. Hasn't even graduated college yet—I heard he's not even twenty. His dad's family goes way back with the Vaughns, so he got shoved into this internship through connections. Every day he dresses like he's about to step onto a runway. He's basically just treating the company like his personal playground."

Mindy sighed. "Looks like his internship is wrapping up soon, seeing as he's actually starting to volunteer for tasks..."

Sienna nodded in understanding.

He did seem a bit immature.

Just a kid, after all.

Mindy added, "He might look like a cute little puppy, but his temper is awful."

Sienna begged to differ.

He was cheerful, easy on the eyes, and helpful. How did that equate to an awful temper?

Mindy's inner gossip flared up. "You have no idea. When he first started, a few women in the department tried hitting on him."

"And?"

"He shut them down completely. Said he wasn't into older women. Said anyone more than three years older than him was a generational gap. He practically had 'stay away from me, you cougars' written across his forehead."

"..." Sienna silently exited the chat window.

What a loudmouth.

"Because I bit him."

"Huh? You... you two have that kind of relationship? Was it in private? Was he tasty?" Mindy assumed she was joking and playfully joined in. "How's Mr. Vaughn under the suit? As hot as he looks?"

"Oh, he's fantastic," Sienna replied, her jaw clamped so tight her molars ached. "Very... hot."

After work, Nate invited Sienna to a newly opened place called The Indigo Bar nearby. His reasoning was that they had been working so hard for weeks, and with the weekend approaching, they deserved to unwind.

The kid had asked her out a few times before.

But considering Jorrod was sitting at home alone, nursing his "heartbreak," Sienna could never quite bring herself to leave him behind.

Besides, Mindy's words were still echoing in her head.

Nate was incredibly eager and helpful with office tasks, but she had no read on his actual personality outside of work.

She was worried that if she misstepped, he'd think she was just another "old woman" harboring inappropriate intentions.

But today.

Sienna agreed without a second thought.

Old woman or not, let him judge. Tonight, she was going to drown her frustrations in liquor.

Sienna's car was in the shop for maintenance, so Nate drove her after work.

He drove a flashy sports car that perfectly matched his personality—a blinding, obnoxious yellow. It idled like a predatory jungle cat outside the office doors, drawing the eyes of every passing colleague.

Sienna didn't recognize the make, but she knew it was way too conspicuous.

She preferred to keep a low profile. Being the center of attention was her nightmare.
