Evening.
Sienna got home from work. When she opened the apartment door, Jorrod wasn't in the living room.
She let out a sigh of relief, shucked off her jacket, and practically dove into her bedroom, shutting the door behind her.
Thinking about the absurdity of last night made it impossible to look Jorrod in the eye.
Sienna had still been riding a heavy buzz, so the exact details were a blur. All she clearly remembered was Jorrod's absolute, unwavering compliance.
For a split second during the chaos, she had actually thought he had recovered his memory. His furious glaring hadn't felt like acting. His dark, narrow eyes had been terrifyingly intense—like he genuinely wanted to sink his teeth into her jugular and make sure she never acted out again.
But this morning, the man who had been thoroughly bullied was the one softly coaxing her.
It brought her a massive wave of relief.
If Jorrod had actually regained his memory... after the degrading, humiliating way she had played with him, a lawsuit would be the least of her worries. He would have straight-up murdered her to settle the score.
Just thinking about it made Sienna's scalp prickle with dread.
When the knock on the door came, she physically jumped.
"Wh-what is it?"
"Brought you something."
Sienna opened the door. Jorrod stood in the hallway, the dim lighting softening the sharp, intimidating angles she had seen on him under the harsh lights last night.
He was wearing a loose, dark gray cotton hoodie. The soft fabric hung casually over his broad frame, sitting relaxed on his shoulders, radiating a completely unbothered, lazy energy.
A few strands of dark hair fell messily across his forehead, making him look exceptionally gentle.
Jorrod raised his hand, offering her a small paper pharmacy bag.
He didn't say a word, but his eyes dropped, fixing on the scabbed-over corner of Sienna's lower lip.
Sienna didn't take it. She waved him off. "I don't need it."
She went to push the door shut, but the man's hand suddenly shot out, planting firmly against the doorframe. Sienna had pushed hard and wasn't expecting resistance. The heavy wooden door slammed brutally against his long, elegant fingers with a sickening thud, followed immediately by a sharp grunt of pain from the man.
Sienna's heart stopped.
Panicking, she ripped the door open and grabbed Jorrod's hand to inspect it.
Across his long, pale knuckles, an angry, deep red line was already swelling. In the center of the gruesome redness, the skin had split, oozing fresh blood.
