I Fell for the Man Who Ruined Me, Then He Forgot He Ever Loved Me Back novel Chapter 138

With the man in question standing right in front of her, staring at her with bright, expectant eyes, Sienna obviously couldn't say what she was actually thinking.

She decided to deflect. "Who cares about the past? I'm dating the current you, not the past you."

It was a flawless answer, but Jorrod's brows remained tightly furrowed.

Jacqueline Shaw's words from earlier echoed ominously in his mind.

[Rest assured, based on his current progress, it won't be much longer.]

When he couldn't have her, he had desperately counted the stars and the moon. But now that they were finally together, he started feeling paranoid and insecure. A heavy stone of anxiety crushed down on his chest, suffocating him.

A flash of emotion crossed Jorrod's eyes, his Adam's apple bobbing. "If I recover my memories, will you still want me?"

He asked with such careful vulnerability. Meeting his gaze, Sienna looked into those deep, beautiful eyes, seeing her own reflection entirely consuming his vision. She couldn't help but stand on her tiptoes and press a kiss to his cheek.

"As long as you don't dump me, I'll always want you."

The weekend arrived.

Before falling asleep on Friday night, Sienna and Jorrod made plans to go shopping and catch a movie during the day, like a completely normal couple, trying to make up for all the dating experiences they had missed out on.

The next morning, the two of them finished getting ready bright and early.

A very untimely knock hammered against the door.

Sienna was standing in the entryway putting on her shoes.

Bent over and tugging at her heel, she didn't even look up before instinctively calling out, "Who is it?"

"Sienna, it's us! We came to see you."

That incredibly familiar voice...

Sienna's expression froze instantly. Her neck cranked like rusty gears as she slowly turned her head to look at Jorrod, who was already fully dressed and ready to go.

They locked eyes, one standing, one crouched, in total, deafening silence for five agonizing seconds.

Outside, the knocking resumed.

"Sienna? Why aren't you opening the door?"

Sienna sprang up like she had been electrified! She grabbed Jorrod and started shoving him frantically toward the bedroom.

George completely ignored her. Rolling up his sleeves, he marched straight toward the bathroom.

He didn't step back out until he had thoroughly inspected the place and confirmed everything was in perfect working order, a thoughtful look crossing his face.

He looked up and found his daughter's nervous face hovering right behind him.

"See? Not clogged." Sienna was sweating bullets, nervously adjusting her collar as she rambled. "Dad, I really wasn't lying to you. If you're still worried, you can close the door and give it a test run right now."

George didn't reply. He just stared at his daughter with deep suspicion.

"You..."

That look sent shivers down Sienna's spine. She gulped, pulling her collar a little tighter.

Did she have a hickey showing or something?

She had told Jorrod a million times to stop kissing her neck. Every night they came home, he shadowed her relentlessly, acting clingier than the golden retriever at Elara Vance's place...

Sienna forced a painfully fake smile. "W-what is it, Dad?"

George narrowed his eyes. "Are you... wearing makeup?"
