I Fell for the Man Who Ruined Me, Then He Forgot He Ever Loved Me Back novel Chapter 147

The married couple settled into their car.

They sat in silence for a long time.

It wasn't until the rain began to fall heavier, the rhythmic patter splashing against the windshield, that George finally let out a long, heavy sigh.

Immediately following the sigh, he chuckled darkly.

Lillian glanced at her husband. "Sighing and laughing? Are you happy or upset?"

George shook his head. "I wouldn't say I'm upset, but 'happy' isn't the right word either. Conflicted, maybe."

He genuinely appreciated that Jorrod shared his passion for antiques. But knowing the market wasn't enough to just waltz in and steal his Sienna away.

Deep down, he knew the truth.

He was just looking for an excuse. An excuse to justify accepting the man his daughter had chosen.

Lillian offered a knowing smile.

George spoke up again. "But Sienna and Liam Carter really weren't a good match."

Lillian shot him a confused look.

George handed his phone over to his wife.

"Liam Carter came to me saying he and Sienna had a fight. He claimed she got mad at him and started sleeping around with another man, and begged me to come over and talk some sense into her. Look at this. That wasn't the truth at all."

George had been furious the moment he heard those words. "I might not like Jorrod Vaughn, but they're in a proper relationship. Saying she was 'sleeping around'—I won't tolerate anyone speaking about my daughter like that."

Lillian suddenly understood.

She had wondered why her husband had charged into the apartment like a bat out of hell.

He had been acting on false intel the whole time.

The storm outside intensified, dropping the temperature sharply.

The dense sheet of rain battered the city, the chaotic roar of the weather completely sealed out by the glass windows, making the apartment feel even more intimately quiet.

The small windowsill protruded about eight inches inward, its harsh stone edge pressing uncomfortably right against the small of her back.

Jorrod had her pinned entirely too tight. The lack of space meant the stone ledge was digging painfully into her spine.

Breaking the kiss for a frantic gasp of air, Jorrod heard her quiet, trembling whimper. "It's... uncomfortable..."

Jorrod finally pulled back, granting her a moment to breathe.

Sienna immediately scolded him between gasps. "The ledge is digging into my back. It's too hard."

He stepped back half an inch, lowering his gaze. His dark, predatory stare locked onto her heavily panting lips, which were already swollen and glistening with the wet evidence of their passion.

Jorrod's Adam's apple bobbed as he raised a thumb, gently wiping the corner of her mouth.

His voice was completely wrecked, raspy like coarse sandpaper. "I'm sorry. You're just so soft, I couldn't help but lose control..."

Sienna couldn't handle it when he said the most outrageously embarrassing things with absolute, deadpan sincerity.

"Are you blaming me?" She looked down at their tangled feet, mumbling her complaints under her breath. "What do you mean, soft? Cotton is soft. I'll buy you a pound of cotton so you can make out with that instead..."
