I Fell for the Man Who Ruined Me, Then He Forgot He Ever Loved Me Back novel Chapter 148

A devastatingly soft voice drifted down from above her. "I'm not blaming you. It's all me."

"I've been wanting to do this for a long time. Ever since this afternoon, when you held my hand."

"That's why I tried so hard not to look at you."

Sienna paused, tilting her face up. She instantly drowned in his pitch-black gaze, as deep and mysterious as a midnight lake, effortlessly pulling her under.

The very next second, her feet left the floor.

She let out a startled gasp, her hands flying up to grip his broad shoulders. In a blink, he had hoisted her entirely onto the hard windowsill, her legs dangling in the air.

Sienna glanced sideways out the window, then peered nervously down at the floor.

"Are you afraid of heights?"

"..."

Sienna really wanted to know just how fragile and delicate Jorrod thought she was.

"You're being dramatic, I— mm..."

Jorrod planted a hand on either side of her hips and crashed his lips down on hers, breathless with need.

Sienna closed her eyes, lazily looping her arms around his neck.

This position was definitely more convenient, and vastly more comfortable.

The ledge was wide enough, and the height was perfect.

She used to think the exact same thing when she was a little girl, but back then, she only sat up here to do her homework. Now...

Her ears flushed a deep crimson. Through the haze, she heard the man murmur, "Is it cold?"

It had been cold initially, but their body heat had long since warmed the stone, and they were still fully clothed anyway.

Sienna shook her head.

Suddenly, a genuine shiver of cold air swept up her spine.

Jorrod had pushed the hem of her shirt up.

"What about now?"

Scrubbing it by hand seemed exhausting.

Jorrod turned his head. "It got a little messy. I need to hand-wash it first, otherwise..."

Sienna didn't let him finish.

She spun around and fled.

Thinking back to last night, Sienna realized her fears hadn't been unwarranted.

That ancient curtain rod, older than she was, had never been designed for heavy-duty reinforcement. It had endured a catastrophic amount of unholy stress last night—yanked downward over and over, each pull more frantic and brutal than the last.

Halfway through the ordeal, the inevitable happened. The entire fixture ripped from the wall and crashed down with a deafening bang.

Jorrod had instantly thrown himself over her, taking the brutal strike of the metal rod directly across his back.

Sienna had completely panicked, clinging to his shoulders and desperately trying to inspect the damage.

But Jorrod had simply brushed it off with a breathless 'I'm fine.'

And so, the disaster simply became an interlude rather than the grand finale. The freshly fallen curtain served as a makeshift blanket on the floor, bearing witness to the rest of their chaotic, passionate night.
