She had assumed the damage was entirely due to Jorrod's savage pulling last night. Was it actually a structural issue with the wall all along?
Jorrod walked over, listening to the contractor's assessment with a deep frown. "Is it an easy fix?"
The repairman glanced at him, patting the drywall. "We have to scrape the entire plaster layer off this section of the wall, apply a new mesh, and replaster it entirely. You can't drill new holes or install the rod until it's 100% dry."
Jorrod asked, "How long will that take?"
"About two weeks."
"Two weeks?!" Sienna's eyes went wide as she gasped in horror. "You have to work on this one wall for two straight weeks?"
The repairman corrected her. "It's two weeks if we're fast."
Sienna was speechless.
"Plus, scraping the wall generates a massive amount of toxic dust, and the wall will be constantly damp. Realistically, you cannot live in this apartment for those two weeks."
Sienna's brain short-circuited.
A fallen curtain rod had suddenly escalated into an entire wall demolition, which then spiraled into her being violently evicted from her own home for half a month...
The repairman confirmed the schedule, told her to pack away all her valuables to avoid the massive dust cloud, and promised a demolition crew would arrive first thing the next morning.
Sienna packed a few changes of clothes and her essential work files.
Exhausted from the sudden upheaval, she collapsed onto the sofa to rest.
Just as she was wallowing in frustration, an arm slipped around her shoulders, gently rubbing her arm in a soothing rhythm.
Jorrod sat down right beside her. When she turned her head, her cheek brushed against his jaw.
Her gaze fell on his sharp, sculpted jawline as his soft voice drifted into her ear. "Let's stay at my place for now?"
She looked up into his dark eyes, finding them as intensely earnest and clear as always. "Your place?"
"Yeah." Jorrod nodded once.
"But your family..."
"I just asked Silas Lester about the properties under my name. There's a three-story villa near Phoenix Way that I used to stay at occasionally before the memory loss. It's close to your office, and there's a housekeeper who handles the cleaning and cooking. It'll be very convenient for us."
