The doctor glanced at his chart. "You're the girlfriend, right?"
Sienna turned to the doctor, nodding frantically. "Doctor, what happened to him? Why is he suddenly unconscious?"
The question triggered a memory from the previous night—Jorrod pressing his palm against his temple, masking his agony.
But the pain had seemed to vanish as quickly as it came, and Jorrod had insisted he was completely fine.
Because of that, she hadn't forced him to come to the hospital.
Right now, fighting back tears, she was suffocated by regret over her own carelessness.
Seeing her on the verge of crying, the doctor softened his tone. "Don't panic. The test results show no underlying issues."
"Then why is he..."
"I understand the patient was recently involved in a severe car accident and suffered retrograde amnesia. Recovering his memories essentially means his brain is reconstructing its neural pathways. During this phase, the brain tissue is extremely fragile. As long as the physical scans are clear, this kind of reaction is considered normal."
The doctor closed the chart.
"Let me ask you something. Has the patient engaged in any vigorous physical activity over the past two days? He needs to avoid it for at least the next month."
Sienna froze. "No, he hasn't."
The doctor looked up, confused. "No? That's odd."
Standing to the side, Silas cleared his throat and carefully interjected, "Sienna, uh, maybe you should think about it again? Like, really think about it?"
Taking his advice, Sienna obediently lowered her gaze and genuinely tried to remember.
Lately, because of his bruised back, she had explicitly forbidden him from doing any heavy lifting or strenuous chores.
"Hmm, what kind of activity?"
The doctor repeated his question, and Sienna genuinely drew a blank.
But by the third day, Jorrod still hadn't woken up.
Her anxiety flared back to life.
Today was supposed to be Jorrod's birthday, but Sienna had been handed an urgent assignment at work. The proposal was due first thing the next morning. Janice York had strictly emphasized that the entire team was crucial, and Sienna was the linchpin.
Hearing this, Silas told her to go to work.
"Don't worry, I'm right here. I'll text you the second anything changes."
"Besides, he's not even awake yet. When he's fully recovered, you two can celebrate it privately."
Silas's promise to notify her of any changes was just meant to be reassuring.
He never expected that around nine in the morning, a group of very unwelcome guests would barge into the hospital room.
