Silas couldn't help but speak up for Sienna.
"Don't you think you took it a little too far? When you were sick, Sienna was the one taking care of you, and she did an amazing job..."
Jorrod almost laughed at the sheer absurdity.
He let out a cold scoff, cutting Silas off entirely. "Who took care of whom? I was running around her house like a glorified nanny, completely manipulated by her. You're telling me that counts as 'being taken care of'?"
Silas had assumed the drastic shift in behavior meant Jorrod had entirely forgotten their romance.
Hearing this, Silas frowned. "So you remember everything that happened between you two?"
"I don't need to remember." Jorrod raised his hand right in front of Silas's face. "The proof is right here."
He waited just long enough for his friend's eyes to lock onto the scattered scratches before dropping his hand back to his side.
Jorrod had no interest in discussing this any further.
He brushed past Silas, his long legs crossing the distance to the sofa in a few strides. He sat down, sinking into the plush cushions, and picked up a tablet.
Silas remained silent for two seconds before marching over to the sofa and dropping down right next to his friend.
"I don't know how you got those scratches, but they just look like minor, everyday bumps."
"What I'm saying is, you used to cling to Sienna like your life depended on it. Now that you've recovered, if you don't want to continue, that's your own business."
"But you should at least have the decency to say a proper goodbye and end things amicably."
Jorrod kept his eyes glued to the screen. "My time is valuable. I have no reason to waste it on meaningless people and pointless situations."
Having spent all this effort reasoning with him only to be met with such arrogance, Silas felt a flare of sheer frustration.
