I Fell for the Man Who Ruined Me, Then He Forgot He Ever Loved Me Back novel Chapter 210

What could he possibly need her to do?

Sienna frowned slightly, completely unable to guess his intentions.

"What is it?" she asked.

Jorrod simply replied, "Don't worry about it for now. Just be ready when I come to pick you up tomorrow."

"Just... the two of us?"

"Jeremy will be there too."

Three people. That sounded formal enough.

Sienna wanted to press for more details, but the sound of hurried footsteps echoed from the half-open doorway.

"Apologies, Mr. Vaughn! I saw the door was open so I didn't knock. I just came to drop off these documents—oh? Sienna is here too."

Janice York stumbled in, clutching a stack of files, her movements frantic as she rushed in and out of the room.

As she left, she shot Sienna an incredibly complicated, wide-eyed look.

Only when Janice's footsteps faded down the hall did Sienna instinctively glance back at the desk.

"..."

She bit her lip, staying silent for two agonizing seconds before finally looking back at Jorrod.

"Mr. Vaughn," she said.

"Hmm?"

"Your belt." She hesitated. "I think Janice just took it."

"..."

"Yeah."

Another bizarre, strangely synchronized silence settled over the room.

"I'll go downstairs and get it back for you," Sienna mumbled, dropping her head and turning to leave.

"Forget it," a voice called out from behind her. "No need to bring it back up."

Sienna immediately stopped.

Suddenly realizing how weird the situation was, she snapped her head back around. "I wasn't trying to collect it!"

Jorrod had already walked around his desk, pulled his chair out, and sat down with unhurried grace. Ignoring her protest, he said calmly, "Just handle it yourself."

Sienna understood perfectly.

He was disgusted by the idea of using something someone else had worn.

"Oh."

After a moment's thought, she turned back and packed two more portions from the fridge.

-

The black Cullinan had been waiting quietly outside her building since before seven, parked through the pale gray dawn until the first rays of sunlight broke the horizon.

In the back seat, Jorrod leaned against the leather interior, his long legs casually crossed. His elbow rested on the armrest, his fingertips tapping out a slow, rhythmic beat.

Jeremy glanced at his boss through the rearview mirror. The cabin was dim, and Jorrod's face was cast in shadow, making his expression unreadable.

Jeremy watched as Jorrod lifted his wrist to check his watch once more.

Jeremy immediately turned around. "Mr. Vaughn, should I give her a call?"

Just as he spoke, a figure dashed out of the nearby stairwell. She moved quickly, her eyes still a bit unfocused from sleep. A second later, the heavy door swung open, and Sienna practically threw herself into the back seat.

She offered Jorrod a quick nod. Her hair was slightly messy from running, and she was slightly out of breath. "Mr. Vaughn."

Jorrod turned his head, sweeping an incredibly frigid gaze over her. Without saying a single word, he raised his wrist, deliberately presenting the watch face right in front of her eyes.

Catching a glimpse of the gleaming stainless steel timepiece, she feigned ignorance. "Wow, that's gorgeous. It really suits you. You have such great taste, Mr. Vaughn."

"..."

Jorrod frowned, pulling his hand back as he bluntly asked, "What time is it?"
