I Fell for the Man Who Ruined Me, Then He Forgot He Ever Loved Me Back novel Chapter 213

She had entirely failed to anticipate this.

Stepping out of the car, she was met with a wildly different scene.

The luxury vehicle was parked on a dirt path right on the edge of a rural farming village. The moment the door opened, a pungent wave of fresh grass and damp earth hit her face. There didn't seem to be many houses nearby, just the chaotic clucking and quacking of farm animals echoing all around them.

A massive rooster strutted leisurely toward her, pecked her right on the ankle, and then casually sauntered away...

"..."

She was definitely ordering a chicken pot pie when she got home.

"Quack."

And a side of duck confit.

Jorrod was suddenly standing beside her. His tall, imposing frame radiated such a cold, unapproachable aura that even the farm animals gave him a wide berth. After pecking Sienna, the rooster hadn't even dared to look his way before scurrying off.

"This... this is where Quincy Shepherd lives?" Sienna asked in sheer disbelief, turning to look at him.

If Jeremy and the driver hadn't been with them, she would have genuinely suspected she was being trafficked into the middle of nowhere.

Jorrod gave a brief "Hmm."

He instructed Jeremy to wait in the car and remain on standby while he and Sienna approached the front door.

Sienna trailed behind Jorrod, her shoes leaving shallow imprints in the dirt path as they walked up to the house.

The reddish-brown wooden door looked incredibly old, yet a jarringly modern electronic doorbell was bizarrely mounted right next to it.

Just as Sienna was wondering if the thing even worked, Jorrod raised his hand and pressed his finger against the button.

A moment after the chime rang out, heavy footsteps echoed from the courtyard inside.

"Who is it?"

It was an unexpectedly robust, energetic voice.

Speaking toward the door, Jorrod said, "Quincy, it's Jorrod."

"Get the hell out! I'm not seeing anyone!"

Sienna instantly agreed.

And then, she heard it.

"Quincy, I brought my girlfriend to meet you. I really am just here to visit."

"?"

Before Sienna could even process the shock, the heavy slide of a wooden deadbolt echoed from within. With a loud creak, the door opened just enough for a head to poke out.

Sienna forced a stiff smile and waved awkwardly. "Hi... Mr. Shepherd."

Quincy's scrutinizing gaze swept over the two of them, trying to see right through their act. "Really? Girlfriend?"

Jorrod glanced down at Sienna and, with an utterly shameless lack of hesitation, gave a firm "Yes."

Quincy continued to inspect them. Finally, his eyes darted between their faces as he spoke.

"Then kiss her to prove it."
