Sienna could vaguely read the room.
Although Quincy seemed to outwardly despise Jorrod, the two clearly shared a deep, underlying history.
Even with her acting as the fake girlfriend, the older man's curiosity was completely piqued.
Sitting around the table, the conversation naturally gravitated toward her.
Whatever Quincy asked, Sienna answered, only slightly altering the timeline of how they met, claiming they had bonded through work and slowly fallen for each other over time.
It was obvious that Quincy had taken a liking to her. The conversation flowed easily, and after a few exchanges, the perpetually stern look on his face finally softened.
While they were still miles away from achieving Jorrod's actual goal, the atmosphere could at least be described as pleasant.
For lunch, Quincy personally slaughtered two young roosters from his coop.
He braised and stewed them, whipping up a massive feast for the two guests.
Sienna ate with absolute delight.
Jorrod, however, barely touched his food.
His mind was entirely consumed by the business objective that had brought him here.
They had already wasted far too much time. From raw material costs to fluctuating market trends, the current window of opportunity was absolutely critical. They couldn't afford to drag this out any longer; the sooner this was resolved, the better.
So, later that evening...
Just as the older man and Sienna were deep in a joyful conversation, occasionally erupting into bright, genuine laughter...
Jorrod, who had barely spoken all day, suddenly broke his silence.
"Quincy."
The warm chatter abruptly died. Quincy looked over.
Jorrod had violently bulldozed right into the middle of their conversation.
"Quincy, the real reason I came today is actually to—"
He didn't even get to finish the sentence.
Quincy's smile vanished instantly, his expression hardening into stone.
"We've met, we've had tea, and we've eaten. I know how busy your schedule is, so you should head back early. I won't bother seeing you out."
The old man let out a cold scoff, clasped his hands behind his back, and stood up to leave.
The sudden shift was brutal.
At least leaving now meant they would beat the evening rush hour traffic.

After walking away, Jorrod sought out Quincy and stated that they weren't leaving tonight; they were going to stay for a few days.
Quincy knew exactly what the boy was plotting.
He had intended to throw him out immediately, but when he turned around, the first thing he saw was the man's exceptional physique—broad shoulders and a narrow waist—perfectly encased in a bespoke tailored suit.
Looking up, the Windsor knot of his tie was immaculately tied; looking down, his posture was flawlessly straight and his legs endlessly long. Combined with those striking facial features that so closely resembled his mother's, the man radiated a cold, composed, and unapproachable elegance.
But at the same time, he looked far too pristine and detached from the real world. Simply put, he was far too thoroughly out of touch with regular people.
A wicked, mischievous idea suddenly bloomed in the old man's mind.
He let out a dry chuckle, a smirk breaking across his face.
It was about time someone put the boy through the wringer and forced him to quit while he was ahead.
"You can stay, but you aren't staying for free. If you want a bed, you have to work for it."
"You. Go to the chicken coop and collect the eggs for me."
