I Fell for the Man Who Ruined Me, Then He Forgot He Ever Loved Me Back novel Chapter 216

Sienna waited in the room for a long time, but Jorrod never returned.

She only found out his whereabouts when she went to ask Quincy.

The man had gone to the chicken coop to gather eggs.

"You made him go gather eggs?" Sienna asked in sheer disbelief.

Seeing her stunned expression, Quincy assumed she was feeling protective of her boyfriend. He scoffed. "What, you feel bad that he has to collect some eggs? I'm the one feeling bad for my eggs!"

He had been gone for over half an hour.

Forget about gathering eggs; he could have laid them himself by now!

As for Sienna, she obviously didn't feel sorry for him over something so trivial.

It was just a little hard to imagine...

Recalling Jorrod's impeccably tailored outfit from earlier today, Sienna couldn't help but ask, "Quincy, where exactly... is this chicken coop?"

Quincy pointed her in the right direction. "It's good that you're going. Don't let that brat ruin all my eggs."

By the time Sienna arrived, Jorrod was still struggling to gather the few eggs scattered about.

It was dusk, and the setting sun had shed its midday harshness, bathing half the sky in a soft, tangerine glow.

Likely finding his clothes restrictive, Jorrod had shed his suit jacket, wearing only the white dress shirt underneath. The sleeves were casually rolled up, revealing his lean, well-defined wrists. A meticulously crafted luxury watch was still strapped to his wrist bone. His entire posture and presence felt completely out of place amidst the clucking and quacking of the farmyard.

The hens in here were fiercely protective of their nests, a far cry from ordinary chickens. The moment Jorrod reached out to grab an egg, a hen flapped its wings and lunged forward with a furious cluck to peck at him.

Jorrod jerked his hand back and raised his arm to block the attack.

The aggressive beak struck squarely against the expensive watch on the man's wrist.

Sienna frowned, feeling a sharp pang in her chest.

Quincy was right; it really did hurt to watch. That single peck probably knocked thousands of dollars off the watch's value.

She stepped forward, her footsteps light and stealthy. Stopping right behind the man, she clasped her hands behind her back and leaned in slightly, allowing a few strands of her hair to cascade down like delicate willow branches.

Her cool, fine hair brushed against him like a feather, sending a tingling itch from the surface of his skin straight to his chest.

Jorrod's entire body instantly went rigid.

"..."

The brief spark of emotion that had just swirled in his chest vanished instantly.

Jorrod finally realized why that smile looked so familiar.

Back in her apartment, when he offered to buy her a bed worth hundreds of thousands of dollars, she had given him this exact same sycophantic, worshipful look.

He was absolutely certain that if he hadn't promised that money, she would have kicked him out onto the streets that very night.

A vein throbbed on Jorrod's forehead. "Do you really love money this much?"

Sienna didn't like the sound of that. "Who doesn't love money? You gave up sitting in a clean, spotless office to endure chicken feathers and crap in this coop. Aren't you doing this for money too?"

Jorrod's thin lips pressed into a tight line. His dark eyes locked onto her for two full seconds.

"Fine."

As soon as the word left his mouth, Sienna didn't immediately get to work. Instead, Jorrod heard her say "Wait a second," before watching her look down, pull out her phone, and hit the record button right in front of him.
