I Fell for the Man Who Ruined Me, Then He Forgot He Ever Loved Me Back novel Chapter 222

A warm, soft sensation pressed against his fingers.

Jorrod's body went imperceptibly rigid for a second.

He slowly turned his head, his gaze landing on the hand gripping his so tightly. Looking up, he saw her eyes were still closed, her eyelashes resting peacefully against her cheeks. The hand-holding... seemed to be purely an unconscious reaction.

Jorrod didn't speak, nor did he move. He just stared in complete silence for several seconds.

Until Sienna opened her eyes again.

It only lasted for a fleeting moment. Before her eyes could fully open, she slipped right back into a groggy slumber.

Muttering softly, "Jorrod..."

He heard her.

"Jorrod..."

"The kitchen... microwave it in the kitchen."

The strange ripple that had just brushed against his heart vanished entirely at her words.

Jorrod's gaze cooled, regaining its usual calmness.

Even half-asleep, she never forgot to boss him around.

He had lost his memory, and it seemed he had lost his mind along with it, stubbornly staying by her side, refusing to even go back to his own home.

Jorrod pulled his gaze away, preparing to ruthlessly yank his hand out of hers.

"Don't drink cold milk... it's bad for your stomach."

The murmur was as faint as a mosquito's hum.

Jorrod stopped his motion mid-pull.

He paused for several seconds before slowly looking back down at the bed.

This was probably the first time he had ever seen Sienna looking so peaceful.

The hostility she wore while awake had entirely melted away in her sleep. Her messy hair stuck out haphazardly across her forehead, completely lacking her usual sharp, put-together look. The honey-yellow glow of the incandescent light washed over her face, casting tiny fan-shaped shadows beneath her lashes. Her brows were furrowed slightly, as if she were still troubled by whatever she was dreaming about.

His gaze grew slightly deeper, tracing the line of her brow, sliding down the elegant bridge of her nose, and settling on her plump, rosy lips.

The night was far too quiet. In this isolated little room, her words sank into him, something gently pricking his hardened heart before plunging into its depths, sending ripples through his chest.

Entirely unaware of it himself, his Adam's apple bobbed slightly, and those dark eyes grew a shade darker.

Two notification chimes from the laptop pulled his attention back.
